Homenagem as vitimas da Inquisicao em Portugal
The institution of the Inquisition in Portugal dates from 1536 and lasted for almost 300 years in Portugal. It was largely responsible for the decline of the first global empire in the world that Portugal had maintained during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Inquisition was responsible for the death of many innocent victims and the greatest symbol of intolerance and religious extremism in the history of Portugal. It was in Praça do Giraldo that most of the victims were burned alive in the horrible acts of faith. The court of the inquisition of Évora was the deadliest of the 4 courts that existed in Portugal of this tenebrous institution.

We loved our tour. It was one of those tours that really add something to the trip. We visited the main points of the city and, thanks to the always clear and interesting explanations, everything gained a different meaning. Elsa was very friendly and created an excellent interaction with us. We felt completely at ease to ask questions and talk, and that made the experience even more enjoyable for the whole family. The pace of the visit was perfect; neither hasty nor too slow. In the end, we had the feeling that we really knew Evora. It was a very well spent day and we highly recommend this tour to those who want to explore the city in a relaxed, informative and welcoming way.

We had an extraordinary experience on our tour to Évora with Elsa. From the very beginning, she proved to be an extremely friendly, attentive guide and very familiar with local history and culture. The clear and engaging way in which she explains every detail has made the tour not only informative, but also fun for the whole family. Elsa took special care in adapting the pace and content of the visit so that everyone – adults and children – could get the most out of it. It recommended amazing places, told curiosities that we would never discover on our own and created an atmosphere so welcoming that we felt like we were walking with a friend. It was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of our trip. I recommend Elsa with closed eyes to anyone who wants to meet Evora in an authentic, pleasant and memorable way. Thank you so much, Elsa, for such a special day for me and my family!
