I (Captain Matt) along with my crew member take our guests out for an incredible experience on the waters in and around Sitka Sound viewing the breathtaking scenery and enjoying diverse wildlife encounters! You may see many if not all of the following wildlife, Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Ravens, Bald eagles, shearwaters, cormorants, 2 types of puffins, and many other sea birds too numerous to mention.
Bears are regularly viewed in the late summer early fall, and occasionally viewed in the spring.
As I have had a long career commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, I give unique insight into the local fishing industry. Both my crew and I will also enlighten you on local history and life in Sitka.
To ensure your experience is genuine, my crew is always either one of my family, or a local hire that truly knows Sitka. We live it year round!!

What To Expect
Sitka
Cruise the waters of Beautiful Sitka Sound, and the outer coastline of Baranof Island viewing Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor seals, Humpback Whales, possibly Orcas, Bald Eagles, and a vast variety of sea birds. Many times all in one tour.

Wheelchair friendly Sitka ocean wildlife tour - stunning!

5.00We booked a family of 10 while visiting Sitka on Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady cruise ship. Of highest importance was catering for my wife in a wheelchair. We booked direct via Viator (as opposed to cruise ship tour) Matt, the skipper and owner and his assistant were fantastic. Hard to find greater passion when you built the boat and the business. Their knowledge of the Sitka area and places to search out the wild life was clearly evident to us all. We managed to see whales, seals, otters and eagles. Ask about Domino the whale. Apart from the wild life the scenery from the water was incredible for a boat full of Australians The boat provided a good mix of out door area and indoor warmth when needed. For anyone wanting a wheelchair friendly tour with the Alaskan sea-life id highly recommend this tour. Although we picked the tour in town, Matt dropped us literally back at the stern of our cruise boat.

5.00Had an amazing time! Matt did his absolute best to make sure we saw as much sea life as possible, and had tons of facts and info along the way. We went the end of May and I would recommend dressing in layers. It did get a little chilly but with layers we were plenty warm. Highly recommend!

5.00We had an amazing time on the Sea Piper Whale Watching Tour! Captain Matt and Sofia were both incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience fun and educational. They shared so much interesting information about the whales and marine life, and you could tell they truly love what they do. The tour was well organized, relaxing, and unforgettable. Seeing the whales up close was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great experience on the water!

5.00Wonderful experience. The boat is smaller (though very sea worthy) and there were only 5 passengers so we didn’t have to worry about not being able to get to the railing to view the abundant wildlife. We saw numerous grey whales, sea otters, bald eagles and sea lions. The boat was well designed with covered areas and small enough to be able to get into areas where the larger, crowded boats couldn’t go. The crew was knowledgeable and friendly. It was a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend.

5.00This was by far one of the best experiences of my life. Captain Matt was super nice and knew exactly where to go so we could see marine life. We got to see sea lions, seals, otters and whales. We had limited time and Captain Matt worked with us so we could do everything we wanted in a shortened time frame. He was super informative and made the trip special for our group. If I’m ever in Sitka again, I’m looking him up!
