What To Expect
El Yunque National Forest
The perfect mixture of adventure and deep contact with nature. We will visit Puerto Rico’s most famous forest: El Yunque National Forest. This natural wonder is a magnificent tropical rainforest nested in the mountains of the Sierra of Luquillo, in the northeast part of the island. The reserve is administered by the United States Forest Service and our company is part of the selected group of tour operators with permit to provide tour guide services to the forest. Depending on the aptitudes and characteristics of each group we will visit certain elements of the location that could include: El Portal Visitor Center (better for groups with kids), La Coca Waterfall, Yocahú Tower, Baño Grande, hiking on Caimitillo Trail or Mt. Britton Trail. Our certified tour guides will interpret the geology, geography, biology and history of this unique forest established in 1876. In the end we will stop at a local authentic kiosk-fruit schack for a late lunch (on your own).

Any group that chooses to visit El Portal Visitor Center the entrance fee is $8.00 per adult, with children 15 and under admitted for free.

5.00We had a fantastic experience with Juan exploring El Yuenque and learning about Puerto Rican history, ecology, geography, culture, and politics! We were a complex family of 7 that included two babies, two brave 73-year-old grandparents, and three 30-something-year-olds. Juan was responsible, knowledable, and engaging, and felt comfortable opening up to us and we really appreciated our conversations with him. We are a family of bird lovers, and so we were super happy that Juan new SO MUCH about Puerto Rican flora and fauna and especially birds. Learning about the hurricane impacts and tension between conservation and development was fascinating. All the logistics were perfect and the van was very comfortable. Gracias to Juan and his team for an unforgettable day that brought our family closer. We will never forget the rainy day where we got to know El Yuenque.

5.00This was an absolutely amazing tour, but even greater was our guide Francisco. He was extremely knowledgeable about all things PR, providing a lot of great historical context. We hiked up a mountain, with Francisco sharing his vast and passionate knowledge about ecology and environmental science. To close out the tour, we stopped at an amazing restaurant. All around a 5 star experience!
