My husband and I, along with our son, embarked on a wonderful 6 day tour with Xhuljo as our tour guide. With an educational background in art and history, it was clear that Xhuljo had a genuine passion in providing us with extraordinary details about Albanian war history, castles, food, art, music, and its people and social customs. Moreover, he also provided us with excellent recommendations of other events and places that we could take in during our free time. Sitting in the passenger's seat of the car, I had the opportunity to ply Xhuljo with so many questions that I thought might drive him crazy by the end of our trip. But, he consistently answered them happily with his typical thoroughness and sense of humour. During our drives, Xhuljo had lunched with us in a couple of great restaurants that served up incredibly mouthwatering delicious food! Sadly, our whirlwind tour had to come to an end. In summary, Xhuljo expertly guided us through a first rate 6 day tour of Albania. And, for my family, he was absolutely the perfect tour guide...a 10/10 star rating! Thank you for teaching us so much about your lovely country!

I had the privilege of joining a tour in Albania, and it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. The country offers a unique blend of history, culture, and untouched nature. Albanian cuisine was a delightful surprise. I enjoyed traditional dishes like byrek, tavë kosi and fërgesë. Additionally, the local wine and raki were the perfect complements to the culinary experience.

This October, I had the privilege of joining a 6-day tour of Albania with Local Friends Albania, and it was an unforgettable experience! Every day was a perfect mix of culture, history, stunning landscapes, and genuine Albanian hospitality. We started the journey in Shkodra, a charming northern city steeped in history and tradition. Exploring Rozafa Castle and taking in the panoramic views of Lake Shkodra was the perfect introduction to Albania's rich heritage. Next, we headed to Durrës, where the ancient Roman amphitheater and the lively seaside promenade gave us a glimpse of both the country's past and its vibrant present. Berat, known as the "City of a Thousand Windows," was another highlight. Wandering through the cobblestone streets of the old quarters and visiting the hilltop castle transported us back in time. Local Friends Albania ensured we got to meet locals and even sample homemade treats, which made the visit feel extra special. The journey continued to Gjirokastra, the “Stone City,” where the beautifully preserved Ottoman architecture and the imposing castle offered a fascinating look into Albania's history. Our guide's storytelling brought the city to life, making it one of my favorite stops on the tour. Nature lovers will adore the Osumi Canyons, and so did I! We hiked along the edge of the stunning canyon, marveling at its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. It was a refreshing and awe-inspiring escape into Albania’s incredible natural beauty. Of course, no trip to Albania would be complete without experiencing the Albanian Riviera. The beaches were absolutely breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters and golden sands. Himara, a charming coastal town, became our base for exploring the Riviera. From swimming in secluded bays to savoring fresh seafood while enjoying sunset views, it was pure paradise. Throughout the tour, the team at Local Friends Albania was exceptional. Our guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also warm, friendly, and passionate about showcasing the best of Albania. The small group size made the tour feel personal and flexible, allowing us to truly connect with each destination. The food was another standout! Every meal was an authentic feast of Albanian flavors, from traditional dishes like byrek and tave kosi to delicious fresh fish and local raki. The visit to a family-run winery was a special treat, where we tasted some of the best wines in the region. Local Friends Albania truly lives up to their motto, "Come as customers, leave as friends." By the end of the tour, I felt like I had gained not only a deeper appreciation for Albania but also lifelong friends. If you're considering a trip to Albania, don’t hesitate to book with Local Friends Albania. Their attention to detail, passion for their country, and genuine hospitality make them a standout choice.

My friend and I did the 6-day tour of Albania. The tour itself and places we went were extremely well chosen and I felt like I was introduced to this country perfectly, even during the off season. Seeing different towns on the coast, world UNESCO sites like Berat and Gjirokastra and staying in hotels that were affordable and historical. We met kind people everywhere and the towns were beautiful. Our tour guide, Skerdi was mostly pleasant and had knowledge of the history and places we saw during our trip. He took us to eat traditional Albanian foods, including Albanias best farm to table restaurant. We even had the pleasure of dining at his family home in Himarë. Overall the trip was a good experience and I am happy to visit Albania. The only recommendation I have is that if the guides join travelers for lunch or coffee they are more engaging and not consistently on social media. I also wish we were provided recommendations for free time activities before leaving us on our own for the day, the guides are the experts and should be making suggestions.

We got to see an amazing set of outdoor locations - lakes, rivers, beaches, mountains, and hiked trails and explored all over the north to the south with Scerdi. The sites were amazing. The food was spectacular. We went to the most amazing historical UNESCO sites and visited an internationally awarded vineyard (Cobo). At every point, we asked questions about the culture, the country, the people, the buildings, the land - and Scerdi was most hospitable, welcoming, informative, and a consummate professional. We learned quickly to trust Scerdi's judgement and planning and to just relax and enjoy the adventure which indeed came with some wonderful surprises. For example, we stumbled upon a stringed instrument player in the mountains of Theth. We found a singing dance and musical troupe in Berat. We found solace in the sea water and the warm sun in Dermi. I am recommending Scerdi and Local Friends Albania to my cousins who are going to Albania later this year. I heartily recommend them to you, too. It's well worth it and a HIGH value. The team has integrity. I will post photos later.

Albania is worth visiting: both the coastal area and the hinterland. The only problem is the ATMs which charge high operation costs for each withdrawal!!!!!!!!

My friend and I did a tour with Xhuljo and it was not just a tour but an experience! Everything was well organised and a very good balance of nature and cities. Would definitely recommend doing this tour and not only booking daytrips: It saves you time, money and energy and gives you a way better experience of the country. Plus: You don’t need to organise it and don’t need to deal with the traffic and the roads. 😄 Every hotel was very clean and neat and in very good locations. Thank you so much for the good time we had in Albania! A friend and I did a tour with Xhuljo and it wasn’t just a tour, it really was an experience! Everything was well organised and the alternation between nature and cities was great. I can really only recommend it: In contrast to day tours, you not only save time, money and energy, but you also experience the country in a completely different way. And the best thing: You don’t have to organise everything yourself and you don’t have to struggle with traffic or the narrow mountain roads. 😄 All the hotels were very clean and neat and in a very good location.
