GOOD NEWS UPDATE 04/Dec 25 The Yorke Bay area has been reopened and there are healthy adult Gentoo penguins there.
This is an active tour providing a rich overview of the wildlife, historic points of interest and what it is like to live in the Falklands.
We will visit Gypsy Cove to see Magellanic penguins and harbour views, before moving on to Yorke Bay to see the Gentoo penguins.
A brief stop at the iconic ship wreck Lady Elizabeth provides great photographs and an understanding of the geographic importance of the Falklands during the sailing ship days.
During the tour of Stanley we will pass by the 1982 and 1914 war memorials, and other points of interest in Stanley.
You will learn about our lifestyle from our well-informed and entertaining guides who ensure your tour is a fun, friendly and memorable experience.

NB: 04/12/2025 Yorke Bay is again open to the public. In the event that Yorke bay is closed at any point during the season we will extend the tour to both the East (Sapper Hill, Wireless Ridge areas) and the West of Stanley (Cape Pembroke, Surf Bay) to ensure you enjoy the maximum coverage of the Stanley area. Please be assured that while there may be less penguins, the replacement content and quality of our guides will ensure that you will be well informed about all things Falklands from start to finish.
Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck
Lying at the east end of Stanley Harbour is Stanley's most imposing and iconic shipwreck. Known as Lady Liz, the ship was launched in Sunderland in the UK in 1879 and suffered damage whilst rounding Cape Horn in 1913. She limped into Stanley for repairs but the high cost prevented any being carried out. After various moorings in Stanley Harbour, a violent gale in 1936 forced the Lady Liz into her current resting place. This is a favourite place to get pictures with the back drop of Stanley and the mountains to the West.

Sharon, our guide, and Haley, our driver, were both very friendly and informative, plus a great sense of humour. This tour was much less than the ones we could have booked from the cruise ship and we did see plenty of penguins and three different kinds. Not as many as I would have liked but that is just luck of the draw on the day (friends who took the cruise ship option did see a lot more, but they paid a lot more). It involved two short walks, one on a hard rocky track and the other over sand. The walk through the dunes itself was pretty good. it was followed by a quick tour through Stanley showing us some of the key places.

Very nice tour, we saw many wildlife and penguins during the tour. A city tour also included on return to the port. They offered a ginger cookie during the tour. Highly recommended!

Sharon and her driver Eve (ex police) are awesome! Very knowledgeable. We saw Gentoo and Magellanic as well as a couple of King penguins .bonus tour of town pointing out the differences in the development, housing and history. At the end You can visit the museum (free) and it's 5 min walk to the dock, or get a ride back to the dock (museum is worth the visit). It was pouring rain, but still an awesome visit.

Our cruise liner had no slots but these guys did, and it's the best value expedition I've had. We saw penguins, up close, dolphins, geese and many other birds. A nice roomy minibus with a well informed guide and safe driver. Highly recommended

Just did this trip. It was absolutely brilliant. We got to see Magellanic penguins at Gypsy Cove and then gentoos and a king penguin at Yorke Bay, with plenty of time at both to get loads of photos. The guide (Eva) and driver were superb. 5th and 6th generation Falklanders, who provided great information along the way. I would thoroughly recommend this trip with Travel Falklands.

An excellent small group tour with a personable and knowledgeable sixth generation lady guide. A three hour tour that covered two Penguin locations and local landmarks around Stanley.
