What To Expect
Fishermans Paradise
Meeting by the boat ramp at Fishermans Paradise, the route for this guided walk includes riverside, bush, village tracks and streets. You'll hear stories of natural environment, flora and fauna (and some surprising local history!) as we wander along the rivers edge, through tranquil casuarina forest and via village streets and tracks with binoculars handy for a closer look at the abundant birdlife. It's likely we'll also see kangaroos and eastern water dragons (and fish jumping in the river). We'll also visit a favourite fishing spot with fabulous views over the river, ideal for photos reflecting the bush in the afternoon light.
Lake Conjola
You'll see Lake Conjola (including where Conjola Creek meets the lake) from the riverside walking route.
What‘s Included

4.00Our family really had quite an experience doing the eco walk and it’s not something we all usually do, but glad we experienced something different. I’m glad it was small and personalised and we got to hear local yarns along the way. A real find if people want a different kind of activity and getting to know the bush.

5.00Once again, a really enriching experience. After taking Melinda and Hohepa's Lake Conjola Eco-walk last year, we had to try this one. They are such humble, generous and thoughtful guides and so knowledgeable about the local area and environment which they care deeply about. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. We learned so much and came away with a real appreciation of the local bush and how the community is coming together to manage recovery efforts after the bushfires. So glad these tours are available - thank you!

5.00Mel has an impressive knowledge of the area's history and it was comforting to walk through the regenerating bush after the devastating fires in January 2020. I found it engaging, just the right length and dotted with excellent examples of edible plants, local stories and fascinating anecdotes. I have been to the South Coast many times but learned many new snippets about this beautiful part of Australia. Thank you.

5.00Melinda and Hohepa are both passionate locals and experienced guides, with plenty of stories about the natural environment and the recent devastation wrought by the bushfires. It's encouraging to see nature respond with new growth, and to hear about the community actions in support of regenerating the area. There are still plenty of photo opportunities - birds and beautiful river scenes - and things to learn while taking this informative tour in such a tranquil location.
