The hike is superb but completely ruined by: 1. the guide who "kindly" offered us to come down from the summit by an alternative route and asked us once down before taking us back to the taxi 8000CEV (equivalent to 80€) without wanting to know anything. 2. the tour operator who only responded to our complaint that the surcharge was normal. FYI, the same Rando that we did in the end exists but only 8€ more expensive than this one (and not 80€) In short, experience completely wasted by the organization, it's a shame because with another guide it would have deserved 5 stars

The climb is steep, very good cardio training. But every step is worth it. The view is perfect. As the light appears, man becomes aware that he is on top of a volcano that is inside a volcano. And then the descent, the absolute reward for every drop of sweat squeezed out during the ascent.

Hiking around the volcano crater area of the island of Fogo is a must do. We had great guides, fantastic weather and a magnificent view! We highly recommend this trip.

We got a hold of our guide last minute and he was happy to help us with any questions we had about the islands. Unfortunately we couldn't get to Fogo in our timeframe due to a cancelled flight, but he was very understanding and continued to be helpful during our travels. Seems like a great guy! Rachel and Rose
