This is a great introduction to the Panamanian culture and you will never see or experience with other guides. We will see Panama through local eyes, most guides will not take you there only Victor who has strong connection with the community of Chorrillo and Santa Ana.

Want something different than a traditional walking tour? Victor is a passionate local taking visitors off the beaten path in El Chorillo, the forgotten side of Panama City. The poor neighborhood El Chorrillo has a bad reputation and It is widely known for social problems. Get off the beaten path with Victor and see where boxer Roberto Duran trained, learn about how the U.S. invasion of Panama affected this neighborhood, try local food and drinks, visit the park where dominoes are played, chat with the locals in their homes & get to know the people of this area, and learn about the gentrification that has taken place in the now trendy Casco Viejo historic district. Victor's idea is to show tourists the real side of Panama: the local people, their living conditions & culture. He runs the tour under the slogan: "We are more than just a famous Canal - We are People".

So, first of all, I love food tours and have done them all over the world. This is NOT a food tour. We stopped for food while doing this tour. That being said, the product that was offered was really good. Walking around the less gentrified parts of Panama City was a really good experience. I guess in summary, the product that was offered was really good. Calling it a "food and drink experience" was misleading.

Unfortunately the guide did not show up, thankfully Viator customer service managed to get hold of him & he informed me he was at the hospital with his son and had cancelled the tour, which I had not received any notification of & it hadn’t been cancelled through the app, so just make sure you get confirmation. I was very quickly refunded my money but it did obviously mean we wasted a morning.

We HIGHLY recommend taking this walking tour!! It gets you out of the tourist areas and into "real" Panama. Victor had an emergency so he had his colleague, Juan, take us around to the different neighborhoods. Juan was so knowledgeable and provided us with so much history of the different neighborhoods in Panama. We went into areas that we wouldn't have seen without a local. It was really eye opening to see the amount of poverty that exists in some parts of Panama that, in some places, are a block away from million dollar homes. It really makes you count your blessings!! We felt very safe and everyone we met was very friendly. We had some of the best ice cream, donuts, and Chicarones ever! It was great to support the local vendors. The last stop on our tour was the fish market! We had ceviche and lobster!

Christian was an excellent guide. He was personable, knowledgable, and positive. He interacted with locals in a way that demonstrated trust and admiration; him toward the people and the people toward him.

Take this tour! We were enlightened and educated about the people and history of Panama. Victor is an awesome guide. Never did we feel threatened or unsafe. Many have told us to the contrary. We will be back to experience the 2 sides to Panama. Keep doing what you doing teacher!

It was an amazing experience to tour El Chorrillo and Santa Ana areas with Victor. We hardly saw any tourists. If you only stay in Cosco Viejo, you will miss a big part of Panama City and its culture and history. The best part of my experience was meeting local people, playing domino games, watching local soccer team playing, and trying street food. Victor is a great guide. He does a lot of work for the community. Everyone recognized and welcomed him while we were walking around. He was also super helpful if you need any assistance or tips with other activities in Panama. Ultimately, it was one of the best things I did in Panama City, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone.
