Unfortunately our experience wasn’t as good as other reviewers’. Our guide was lovely, very helpful and pleasant, but this was his first guided tour in the capital. We only got to taste a milky drink (which was delicious) and a one course lunch in a local cafe where we were offered only two choices, certainly not a “diverse menu option” (but again, delicious). There were no street food tastings at the local bazaar and overall it wasn’t a “culturally immersive experience for food lovers” as advertised. The stamp museum was interesting as was the Aapravasi Ghat museum. Seeing the city sprawled out below from the fort is a sight to see. This tour unfortunately did not live up to our expections of a “food lovers tour”, the main reason for booking it.

What can I say except book this tour and request Afjal Codabaccus to take you. We experienced so much in a few hours that we would never have known how to find on our own and to experience everything through the eyes and expertise that f s local officials as just magical. Afjal is passionate about his country and was keen to show and tell us as much as he could fit into the 7 hours we spent with him. He explained the agriculture, history and politics whilst we drove through spectacular scenery, stopping for us to take photographs en route. Experiencing the meat, fish and vegetable markets was so interesting and like stepping back in time, especially contrasted with the modernity and opulence of the mall in the harbour. Our trip included chana puri and lemon juice (or a milkshake) in the market, entry to a fort, two museums including the Blue Penny and lunch at a family run traditional cafe where we were served “magic bowls “ (chicken or lamb with prawns, vegetables & rice accompanied by chilli or garlic sauce). It was a magical day and I’d heartily recommend this to anyone wishing to discover some local culture.

The whole tour was so interesting and diverse. Our driver Kiaran was the best and so entertaining. The place we went for lunch was probably one of the best meals we had over the whole holiday. All 4 of us enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend

Very nice tour with a motivated and engaged guide! We got to see the highlights of Port Louis, but also some less obvious places around the city centre. Saw some areas we wouldn't have ventured in on our own. Hans, our guide was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. He arrived on time and spoke excellent English. Communication about tour logistics was great by both the agency and then by Hans effortlessly over WhatsApp. The food choices were all tasty but in the end even a bit too much to finish 😁 Would book again with Hans and Beguided Tours in a heartbeat!

We had an excellent full days trip. I can not remember the name of our driver but he was lovely, very knowledgeable and he made us very comfortable and welcome. We enjoyed the tea factory and local markets the most. If we had gone on our own we never would’ve ventured to the places he took us or tried the street food. It was such a great experience.
