There are is an amazing collection of stories in the local folklore of this area and during this tour we visit the areas where these stories happened. It is truly a magical way to experience Irish and local culture.

Union Hall is a picturesque fishing village in West Cork not a hall in Cork city.

You will need to be at c. 150 cm tall (4 ft 11') to ride our smallest bikes, however leg lengths etc. can vary so this is only an estimate.

What To Expect

Our eBike storytelling tour starts in picturesque fishing village of Union Hall. We being with a relatively flat spin towards the village of Leap. Just below Leap, we enter the poetically named woodland know as Bláth na Gréine, and pass historic Myross Wood House. We then gently pedal from undulating bóithrín (tiny road) to undulating bóithrín as we share unique local focial (Irish words still used in English). Along the way, we take loads of brief stops for magical short stories from the rich collection of local folklore. After visiting tiny beaches with amazing views, we then return to our starting point.

Everything that could be unforgettable and magical was delivered by both Conor and his stories and the endlessly, beautiful vistas he shared with us. The bikes made the ride comfortable, and virtually effortless. This is a great, special experience and not to be missed if you’re in West Cork

Myself and my partner managed to get a last minute booking on this tour and we are so glad that we did! I'm not sure that there is a better way to see the beautiful scenery of County Cork. The ebikes are really easy to ride and allowed us to cover much more ground than we would have done otherwise. It was a welcome break from driving and Conor took us to some beautiful places that we wouldn't have seen otherwise! It's much more than a bike tour (and would have been excellent even if it was just a bike tour!). Conor weaves local folklore and family history into the tour. He's a magical storyteller - I could see the characters and events playing out in front of me - and our group was enthralled. When we're next in County Cork we will absolutely be booking again with Gormú. This is not to be missed!!

The bike tour was a highlight of our trip - Connor was a great guide with brilliant local knowledge - it was entertaining how every person we passed knew Connor. The folklore was engaging, the bikes easy to use - our first experience and now we all want an ebike - and the views were, as expected, incredible. We would highly recommend this to anybody.
Myself and my daughter wanted to do an E bike tour and were pleasantly surprised that this tour was far more than biking

We had a wonderful evening with Conor and Celine exploring the stunning scenery of Union Hall and Castlehaven on an e-cycling tour. Conor has a natural gift for storytelling, weaving together entertaining tales of local folklore and history that bring the area to life. His charisma draws you in, and he has a fantastic way of involving everyone — from fun role play to thoughtful personal touches — making the experience feel both engaging and unique. The route itself was beautiful, with breathtaking views at every turn, and the e-bikes made it a relaxed yet adventurous way to see the area. An absolute delight and a perfect way to spend an evening!

A really enjoyable experience full of local lore and laughs. We were taken to see places only locals know about and Conor and Celine were so friendly and welcoming. We loved the journey structure using key phrases. The bikes were so comfy and very easy to operate - we left with a real sense of place. Well worth it.

There are honestly no words that could adequately encapsulate how incredibly perspective-altering and beautiful this tour was. The guide for this tour, Conor, managed to perfectly transmit his own personal sense of how this place has shaped him as a person, through its folklore, its landscape, and of course, beautifully poetic language of Gaeilge (Irish). His knowledge of folklore transcended merely an academic pursuit but was peppered with personal stories of being told these stories growing up by his grandmother who taught him the Irish origin story of the milky way, his experience with fuchsia flowers, the symbol of West Cork, the stories behind his personal family and neighbors'. Indeed, he equipped us with so much knowledge that when traveling around Cork afterwards, we meet q man with the last name O'Driscoll and could immediately connect the name to the stories we'd learned (incidentally, this man happened to know Conor and immediately lit up upon hearing his name because he knows how great Conor is!!) The biking was of course the icing on the cake, as the bikes are extremely high quality and well designed, and it felt like the best possible way to travel through this beautifully picturesque area of Cork. This is so much more than a job for Conor. It is clearly his purpose, his calling, something he's devoted his life to, and that's what makes all the difference. You will walk away feeling inspired, full of wonder, and absolutely in awe at the magic and windswept mystery of Ireland. Please take this tour, because if you don't you honestly will be missing a key part of what makes Ireland and it's people so special.
