Excellent tour. Dave was very knowledgeable and sincerely enthusiastic about the history of Fredericksburg and the Germans in Texas. His training and experience as a national parks ranger shows. We (who live nearby) enjoyed learning the area's history and our friends from Colorado enjoyed learning about a slice of American history that was unknown to them.

The driver was very safe. He was also very knowledgeable of the history and current events of Fredericksburg and the surrounding area. He made history interesting as well as relevant to what is happening today. Along the way, he would pause to ask if anyone had questions.

This tour is a must. Learned so much about the history of Fredrickburg in a short time. The shopping and food was great, but the trolly ride tided it all together. Truly greatful for the tour guide and the families known and unknown that have sacrificed, lost and fought for a better way of life. Will visit again.

A1 experience! David went above and beyond being a driver and narrator. His deep sense of appreciation for history, family and community is clearly evident in his delivery. There were only 8 of us on the tour and, for the entire two hours, he made it a point to answer all of our questions with enthusiasm and kept us engaged. We even got to get off the bus and tour a small church where he played Amazing Grace on the organ for us! We also got to stretch our legs and tour the inside of St Mary’s Catholic Church. David’s experience as a Ranger with the National Park Service shone through and made this fellow “parky” proud. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who feels it is important to connect to our past and who wants to be immersed in the heart and soul of the amazing town of Fredericksburg, Texas!

If you like history and learning more about the area you are visiting, this is the tour for you. It was fun and informative. In my 81 years I have been on a lot of tours both in my country, the USA, as well as in other countries. Dave, our tour guide, was by far one of the best I have ever toured with. He was so knowledgeable and even though it was a historic tour it wasn’t dry facts and figures. Dave made the people from the past come alive for us. He did tell us facts but made them so interesting. He showed up pictures on his iPad, or whatever brand it was, that brought so many people and events to life. He took us into two churches that he knew the entire history of, and even added in personalized stories. He pointed out so many of the old buildings and their histories as well as new places of business like eating places and often suggested places we might want to check out on our own when we had more time to really explore them. I am handicapped and had to use the lift to get on and off and he never hurried me or made me feel like a burden. He was cheerful and pleasant each time he helped me. If you only have time for one tour in Fredericksburg, this is the one I absolutely recommend.

The tour guide Dave Schaeffer did a fabulous job. He had so many interesting facts to share about the history of Fredericksburg’s founders, & the historical buildings. You could tell that history was a passion of his. Excellent tour highly recommend.

We have been to Fredericksburg every year for several years, but thought it might be fun to do an historic tour. We were not disappointed! We learned so much more about the area and saw so many different things that we’d never seen. We loved visiting the restored Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and talking with the great grandson of the original founders. Learning about the German settlers and seeing the German cemetery was interesting as well. Highly recommend.

The meeting place/point is at the Visitor's Center which is easy to find, but I was not aware that there is ample parking behind it. Trying to park on the street took some time, so now I know to simply go behind the buildings in the future. Very knowledgeable and accommodating guide who was able to answer any questions that came his way. You spend the majority of the tour in the trolley so no walking shoes needed. Two thumbs up!
