Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice are known as a natural phenomenon because they keep changing through sedimentation of calcium carbonate and create special kinds of algae and moss, tufa or travertine which has been deposited and is still deposited to form the natural dams that separate the lakes. Since the process is ongoing today, just as it always has, new travertine barriers, curtains, stalactites, channels, and cascades are built as the existing ones keep changing. So it doesn’t matter if you have visited the lakes before, they probably look different now, so you can visit them again and never be bored. Besides the lakes, there are some interesting caves in which remains of prehistoric settlements have been found.

The view was very beautiful. We were lucky to have good weather. But it's in the mountains, so it would be nice to have a shorter walk.

We had been recommended to visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park while in Croatia in September and we were very happy with this fabulous full day tour with our wonderful guide Sanja and confident and safe driver, Marko. Sanja is a perfect and professional guide - she kept us informed with history, geography and cultural facts and anecdotes in an interesting and humorous way. She also kept track of everyone while also providing some flexibility to those who were faster or slower in pace. Our tour route began with the upper lakes and ended with lower lakes with a hill at the end.The tour is unforgettable with stunning waterfalls, whitewater streams and turquoise lakes giving great photo opportunities. It requires reasonable fitness for the approx. three hour tour along paths and boardwalks and up and down steps. The tour bus stops on the way there and back at a service station with bathrooms and a cafe with eat-in or take-away food as well as a shop. The tour is very well managed by the Booker Agency at Split where the tour starts.

We absolutely loved this tour to the stunning Plitvce Lakes National Park with our wonderful guide Sanja and Marko as driver. Sanja is the perfect guide keeping us informed and entertained as well as discreetly supervising everyone in a professional way. We did the upper and lower lakes route ending with the hill. Marko at all times was a safe driver. The tour is unforgettable with a continuing vista of waterfalls, streams and lakes with blue and turquoise water which is crystal clear when close. It requires walking kilometres alongside the many lakes and includes steps and boardwalks, but it is so worth it for an unforgettable experience. There is a stop on the way and back at a fuel station with bathrooms, restaurant/cafe with eat-in or take-away food, and a shop. I recommend the kremsnita cake and fruit muffins. It is well-organised by the Booker Agency at Split where participants meet at the start of the tour.

A great day : our guide Sanja was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and led us around the lakes without being overbearing . We never felt rushed and were given ample explanations to get ahead if we wished to so we had the opportunity to go off piste if we wished to . Our mini van was very comfortable and our driver Frank made the journey smooth and safe .

A pleasant drive to and from the lake with appropriate and timely break midway. Started on time with a short walk to the bus. Ride quality was good, but needs to get the AC running all the time. It got a little too warm for us passengers. Lovro (Larry), our guide, did a fine job providing information and sharing his thoughts. He was very personable and funny, cracking jokes along the way. The only feedback my wife and I have for Lovro is to provide more time for us to relish the beauty of the park, allowing more time to enjoy and soak in the scenery. Along the route, there were stops that would have been good to have, and for the main attraction, the big waterfalls, another 5 minutes or so, would be appreciated. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
