  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Sahara Adventure – Totally Worth the Drive!

We recently did the 2-day Sahara tour with night in a tent from Tunis and, although there are quite a few hours of driving involved, it is absolutely worth it. The distances are long, but you see so much of the country along the way that it feels like a real adventure rather than just time on a bus. The tour was very professional and well organised. We were a group of around 10–15 people, which felt like a great size — big enough to be social, but still comfortable and well managed. Everything ran smoothly and the guide kept us informed and engaged throughout the journey. We were especially thankful that the drivers kindly picked us up from Sidi Bou Said, even though the official starting point was Tunis. That flexibility made things much easier for us and was greatly appreciated. One of the highlights was visiting Sidi Idriss in Matmata, famous as a filming location from Star Wars. It was fascinating to see the iconic underground setting in person, and even more interesting when combined with learning about traditional Berber architecture. Visiting a traditional Berber house added real cultural depth to the trip. Another standout stop was the beautiful Chebika Oasis. The scenery there was stunning — palm trees, natural springs and dramatic rocky landscapes. It felt like a hidden paradise and was a perfect contrast to the desert landscapes we experienced later. The absolute highlight, though, was the night at the desert camp in the Sahara. Watching the sunset over the dunes was magical. In the evening there was entertainment with music and a horse show, creating a wonderful atmosphere under the stars. There was also the possibility to ride a camel, which made the whole experience even more special. Lunch and dinner were included, which made everything easy and stress-free. The food was good and plentiful, and the overall organisation of the tour was excellent. If you don’t mind some longer drives in exchange for incredible scenery, cultural experiences and a truly memorable night in the desert, this tour is highly recommended.

An absolutely unforgettable experience! The Sahara tour was perfectly organized from start to finish, with stunning landscapes, exciting activities, and a magical night in the tent in the Sahara. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of his way to make sure everyone felt safe and welcome. The food was good, the accommodations exceeded expectations, and the journey itself was part of the adventure. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tunisia and wanting a true Sahara experience!

Ali was such a knowledgeable and helpful host. The driver was professional and highly capable too! We enjoyed the wide variety of experiences that we could never enjoy without the support of a guide or tour. Yes, there was a lot of bus time but there would be no other way to see so much in such a short period of time and you experience so much! We loved all of the meals and our experience of ridng a camel (35 Euros each extra), and sleeping in a desert was a dream come true! We always felt safe, supported and a lack of pressure to buy or tip. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to experience more than the beaches and the markets of Tunisia. We will remember it forever!

Our guide was very helpful, friendly, organised and kind from start to finish, and very knowledgeable. Our driver was also excellent, we felt in safe hands with both. This trip is amazing value for money. The food was very high standard and catered well, even for a vegetarian. The evening activities by camp fire were fun. Impressive how much the tour fits in without feeling rushed. We are taking home so many happy memories. Highly recommend!

  • THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY TUNISIA TRIP - Felt Safe

I recently completed the 2-day Sahara tour (Feb 24-25, 2026), and it was a great way to see the heart of Tunisia. As a solo female traveler staying at the Concorde Green Park Palace in Port El Kantaoui, I was picked up directly from reception at 7:45 AM. THE EXPERIENCE & MY DRIVER: While I was part of a larger group of 20+ people, I traveled in a separate vehicle with one other couple to meet the main group. We had ADAM K as our driver due to our hotel location and the long distance to the south. This turned out to be the best part of the entire experience! Adam is a safe, respectful driver who navigated the desert roads and potholes with total ease. He has a great passion for music and kept the energy high with an excellent Amapiano and Afrobeat playlist. He is a genuinely kind person who takes pride in his work. He is bilingual (English/French/Arabic) and made the tour feel personal and safe. DAY 1: BABY CAMELS & AN UNFORGETTABLE DESERT NIGHT We visited the El Jem amphitheater and the Sidi Driss Hotel (Star Wars site). A major highlight happened just before lunch; there was a baby camel outside with its handler, and I had the opportunity to feed it! 🥹 🐫 We reached the Sabria Desert Camp by 5 PM. As I didn’t take part in the camel ride, Adam personally walked me up to the mountain area to join the group for a stunning sunset with tea. The evening entertainment was spectacular, featuring horse entertainers followed by singers and dancers around the campfire. The energy was infectious—everyone joined in the dancing! We also watched a traditional sand bread show, seeing the bread baked beneath the hot sand and coming out piping hot. A TRAVELER'S TIP: Coming from London, I know what cold feels like, and let me tell you, the Sahara at night and in the early hours is extremely cold. Bring a really warm throw or a thick cardigan; you will need it! Also, because the desert is everywhere, there is sand on everything, including the bedding and pillows. To protect your face and skin, bring an extra scarf to cover your pillow. It’s a small addition that makes a huge difference for your comfort. DAY 2: OASIS VIEWS & EXCEPTIONAL SUPPORT A 4:30 AM start (very cold, so layer up!) led us to the Chott el Djerid salt lake and the Chebika Mountain Oasis, which was stunning. Our final stop was the Great Mosque of Kairouan. As it was Ramadan, we viewed it from a nearby rooftop, followed by a rug demonstration where I purchased a small camel rug (see pictures). This was easily the best souvenir shop on the trip. I was dropped back at my hotel exactly at 6:30 PM, just in time for Dinner Service. During a stop on Day 2, I was unfortunately hit in the head by a water bottle thrown by another family in the group. Both the main tour guide and Adam were incredibly reassuring. Their care and support helped me manage the resulting headache and made me feel safer than expected for the rest of the journey. VERDICT: Despite being in a separate vehicle, I never felt alone. The coordination between Adam and the main guide was seamless. It is a lot of driving, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour. If you are lucky enough to get ADAM K as your driver, you are in the best hands possible. Thank you, Adam, for making my Tunisia trip so memorable! 🇯🇲🌴🇬🇧

  • Calling of the desert

This 2-day Sahara tour was a memorable experience overall, especially the first day. The journey into the desert and the stay at Dunes Insolites camp were truly special. The time spent among the dunes felt magical and was definitely the highlight of the trip. Some activities mentioned in the itinerary, such as the camel ride and quad bike ride, were optional extras rather than included, but we chose to book them and really enjoyed both. It might be helpful for future travellers if this is made a bit clearer in the tour description. One particularly lovely moment was the traditional bread-making in the sand, which felt authentic and unique. The food throughout the trip was plentiful and very good. Dinner was served in the camp restaurant rather than around a campfire as described, which slightly changed the atmosphere, but it was still enjoyable. The second day involved a long drive back to Tunis, which was quite tiring due to the limited space in the van. However, visiting Chebika Oasis was a beautiful highlight and well worth it. We were also unable to enter the Great Mosque of Kairouan as it was closed by the time we arrived, so improved timing here could enhance the experience. I would like to thank our guide Hamza for his efforts and our driver Baraket for his careful and safe driving. With a few small adjustments, this tour could be even better for future guests.

  • Long drives but worth it

My wife and I went on this tour. Our tour guide was Ali. He was a good tour guide; very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. We first visited the colosseum. Unfortunately it was very foggy so the views weren't great. We had previously seen the colosseum on another tour so we weren't too disappointed. We then went to the Star Wars hotel and Berber villages in the mountains. This was very interesting with amazing views and a good amount of local history. If you're a Star Wars fan like me, there is not a lot to see. A few set decorations and photos from the production. We then went to the camel riding place. We opted not to pay extra to do this which turned out to be the right choice. The others who did the camel ride said it was too expensive for what it was. We then drove to the campsite. The tents were modest in size but the bedding was not sufficient for how cold it was. We were given a demonstration of making a sand bread. The bread was delicious and I only wish that there was more. The food at the camp was okay. There were toilets and showers there but if the camp was filled with guests (which it wasn't when we visited) there would be long waits. This is understandable since it was a semi-permanent camp in the middle of the desert. I was expecting this so it was not a problem for me. We had to leave at 6am the next morning. I did not sleep well because of the aforementioned cold. We were driven about 90 minutes towards our next location before stopping in the salt lakes to take photos of the sunrise. This was nice but I would have been just as happy to get some more sleep and photograph the sunrise at the camp. We then went to the oasis where we were handed over to a local guide. This was the highlight of the trip for me as the place was incredibly beautiful. Our final stop was the outside of the Great Mosque in Kairouan. Because we arrived in the afternoon, it was closed to tourists. As we had visited on a previous tour, we were not too disappointed. Overall the pros of this tour were the amazing places, the nice food and the knowledge of the tour guide. The cons of this tour were the very long (several hour) drives along uneven roads, short stays at the visiting spots (some about half an hour to stop and look around before moving on) and the poor sleep quality in the tents. I would recommend this to people who can endure very long drives as the sights were worth the journey. If you want a very comfortable and easy-going tour, I would not recommend this as it often felt a bit rushed.

This tour is commonly canceled at the last minute by the operators, even if you have had the tour booked for weeks in advance. Also, they have not immediately started processing my refund. Instead of “canceling” the tour from their end (when they have already told me the tour won’t be happening), the tour is listed as “unavailable,” and I am having to request a refund instead. I asked them about the refund, and they haven’t responded in over 24 hours. Overall, the tour operators are unprofessional. They should reveal beforehand that their is a high chance that the tour will be cancelled, and they should immediately provide steps for getting a refund if they can’t provide the tour that a customer has already paid for.

A really lovely trip and so much gets condensed down into a roughly 40 hour tour. I got to see way more than I thought I would. Ali was a very thorough host and Muhammed was a very safe driver. If you are short on time and want to see the seaside, to the dunes, to the salt lake and back, this is the tour for you. Unforgettable memories and even better photos. The bus was plenty comfortable and met lots of really interesting people. Thanks

My partner & I had an emersive experience with the activities we engaged in. Our driver Mohammed was very skilled in driving and always met us at the designated stops. When he was not driving he was very pleased to speak with us as well. Our tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable about the various areas we visited. He was especially attentive to my wife's needs as she had some difficulties with walking in certain areas. So he recommended easier pathways around the Oasis. We had an amazing meal and the tent we stayed in was supplied with electricity. We had enough covers to keep warm during the cold desert winter night. We enjoyed our meals and show that was put on by the camp staff.
