The easiest way to explore the amazing beauties of Cat Ba island is by trekking from Cat Ba town through the jungle, see wild animals and exploring the local life, by this route to Viet Hai Village and then take a boat back. This tour will be an adventure from Cat Ba town and also is an interesting experience you should try.

What To Expect

Cat Ba National Park

8h00 - 8h20: Our bus and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cat Ba town and start the journey to Cat Ba national park. 9:00. Arrival National Park, Our tour guide will help you to take the entrance tickets and start hiking from the entry of Cat Ba national park. On the way we will pass 3 peaks named : Ang Vat, May Bau, Ang Phay where we can take a short break in 5-10 minutes for taking pictures, and experiencing the diversity of the viewpoint. The route to Frog Pond will take around 2.5 hours. En route is the chance for enjoying bird watching, sightseeing in the primary forest.

Cat Ba Island

11:30. You will arrive at Frog Pond – the largest freshwater lake on Cat Ba island. You will see hundreds of Va Nuoc trees growing on the water, you will only see this kind of tree here in the whole Cat Ba national park. Frog Pond is also known with about 400 large and small islands and 130 small golden sand beaches. All creating a beautifully natural picture, and located on the route trans-forest from the national park center to Viet Hai village. 12:00. After a 30 minute break we will keep going to Viet Hai village (around 4 km more). The way from here to Viet Hai village will be easy going as there is no uphill any more, the path is mostly downhill and flat.

The day cruise from Cat Ba island was great! All logistics from our hotel door in Hanoi to the cruise and back were organized and it was seamless. The cruise was beautiful, the kayaking was awesome and all the food was tasty. Our guide Hana was especially knowledgeable and kind. We highly recommend this excursion and having Hana as your guide. It was well worth the cost!

This was an awesome daytrip and planned very well. Hana was an excellent guide and knew so much about the area. Kayaking and swimming around the bay was peaceful and beautiful and it really felt like a protected area and not just a tourist trap. Cannot recommend enough!

Amazing experience!! They pick us from Hanoi in a very comfy bus. Then the boat experience was so good. It feels like you were inside a pirate boat but with style hahha the food they served DELICIOUS!!! The kanoe and swimming so fun!! It is a must♥️🫶🏻 the staff super helpful and Mya all the time ensuring you’re ok.
