It was the most fun ever. They provided a hotspot so GPS would work, gave us a map.of the best way to travel around Malta. Absolutely one of the most fun days ever!

This little car was such a thrill. It drove well, accelerated well, and, once seated, pretty comfortable. They provide you with free wi-fi so we didn’t need to use cellular data on our phones which was a great plus. The maps gave accurate driving directions, even when we took a wrong turn. Best of all, it made us chuckle whenever we looked at it! I would not recommend this if one is very tall or lacking in agility. I am 5’9” and I fit in the back fine…once I got in!

Not only were they about 40 minutes late to show up for a reserved car with no apology or concern, but the employee then stole our credit card information and made several $100+ charges before the bank froze our account. We know for sure it was her because no one else was handed our card. She claimed she needed it for insurance reasons. DO NOT LET THEM PHYSICALLY TOUCH YOUR CARD. Horrible start to a two week vacation. She needs to be fired asap.

This LITTLE car is not for tall people. They give you a VPN to use google maps. Unfortunately it told you to turn after you’ve actually passed the street. The streets have Arabic names and are very hard to understand. Turning and turning used up 30% of the battery very quickly. The are no windows in the vehicle, only the windshield, and of course it rained.

This was a really fun way to explore Malta! They are a little nerve racking once you get on highways but once you get used to it, they are an absolute blast! Smarter Car Rentals also tracks your voyage in case you run out of battery they will know and assist you quickly. I highly recommend doing this if you want to explore more of Malta outside of Valletta!

Ajay and his team were super! Our cruise ship arrived later than expected and they waited for us and made sure we understood the island and how to use the Twizy with confidence. Very friendly and professional and a ton of fun to see Valletta in a short time.

A fun way to explore outside Valletta from a cruise ship. The 2nd seat if cramped so not for everybody! Battery held out with spare!

My husband and I rented a Twizy to drive around Malta. My hubby is not a fan of tours with lots of people... he doesn't like feeling like a sheep, so this seemed to be a great option which gave us transportation and freedom to go where we wanted. Based on the description, I thought we'd be getting a tour (with audio) along with the GPS. The 2nd part was right. There's no audio tour, so if you want to do this, you might want to invest in some kind of audio tour. We really didn't know where to go when we got to Mdina, and an audio tour would have helped. The staff at the Twizy place was incredibly helpful and friendly. I was in the back seat while my husband drove, and its definitely snug (I am 5'8"!). We followed the GPS directions to Mdina and suddenly realized that we were driving on the highway in this little vehicle. It felt more safe and comfortable than renting a scooter, but it was a little unnerving to drive in this tiny EV on the highway, especially since it was my husband's first time driving on the left side of the road. But the vehicle is able to accelerate and get up to speed, even on the highway. The brakes were not very "stoppy" but they did get the job done. The pros: It's affordable and decently comfortable, super easy to park everywhere, and a fun way to see Malta. It definitely feels like an adventure! The cons: We didn't know there were no windows. So we got in, and took off, and immediately my long hair started flying all over in my face. I couldn't see anything! Our first task (in Mdina) was to buy me a hat! So women, in the backseat, you will need a hairband or hat. Also, I don't think I realized that as the backseat passenger, I was going to have to sit with the driver seat between my legs. It felt a little crazy walking around when I would get out, because my legs were so stiff. In cooler temperatures, you may want to have a small blanket or warm coat since there are no windows. Also, as mentioned before, they give you an itinerary but no tour. Overall, I do recommend renting a Twizy as a way to see Malta. Just realize what you are getting when you book it.

Despite the weather being uncharacteristically rainy, we had an absolutely fantastic time driving around the island in the Twizy! The booking process was easy, and the pick-up/drop-off staff were fantastic too. It's a little disconcerting in faster-moving traffic, but perfect for driving around the quieter back roads. A great alternative to normal car rental for two people.

These are REALLY SMALL. We rented one in Valletta Malta. I’ve got really short legs and my husband drove. He was so close to the front he had a hard time being able to switch between brakes and pedal. They’re really cute and easy to drive, but they’re built for really small people. Honestly the main problem we had was with Google maps. There was a several seconds delay, so it told you to turn left just as you passed the street you needed. We went in circles in a chaotic city. We returned it early. Also, it began to rain. My husband didn’t get wet but I did. If you’re young and petite you might not have a problem. Actually I’d like to have one at home to go to the market, the groceries could go in the back, no problem! My husband really enjoys driving it. It was peppy and easy to maneuver. But the back seat is a pain. It’s got a range of about 35 miles, so you need to know where you’re going.
