Abbotsbury Swannery
First up: Nestled at the very end of The Fleet tidal lagoon is Abbotsbury Swannery OR Subtropical Gardens (Season dependant). They are remnants of the Abbey that used to be located nearby. It is the only managed nesting site of Mute Swans in the world, dating back from the 14th century AD.
Portland Bill Lighthouse
The Isle of Portland is next, explore the area around the Bill with two lighthouses, a stone arch, quarry works and notorious tidal races, a rough and dynamic area that is always changing. We will hopefully take the opportunity to climb the lighthouse and enjoy the view from the top!

A perfect day out with family visiting many interesting sites in Dorset. The driver was superb, answering all our questions and giving us lots of information about everything. No complaints only praise for a great day visiting the local area.

A lovely day out although it started off a bit wet. Fortunately our guide had a couple of ponchos which helped to keep the rain out. As a couple we made some changes to the trip. Lulworth Cove is very charming and deserted when it rains. The Swannery is good. We made it just in time for midday feeding by which time the weather was better. Portland Bill provided great views and there is an outstanding Fish and Chip restaurant by the lighthouse. My thanks to our knowlegable guide who adapted to our adjustments. The oick up was on time at our hotl and we were dropped back there. For a packed day this trip is good value

Really intersting tour of Dorcet. Hannah was the guide with a modern van. Since my wife and I were the only tourists...we were able to custmoize the tour for the day. Hannah (who is owner of Jurassic Jouneys) was very accomodating and fun to be with...she knows her way around..knows her history of area as she lives there. Tour seems expensive but when we were finished...I thought it was a geat deal...within an hour I felt like I was with a friend or relative who lived in the area and showed me the non-tourist things that make it special. We even got to walk around where she grew up! If you have the time...take the tour wiht Hannah.
