For a small island, Sal boasts a wealth of sights. This tour covers nearly every inch of it, taking in Kite Beach, Murdeira Bay, Buracona lagoon, Pedra de Lume salt flats and the towns of Palmeira and Espargos. Maria, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The salt pans at Pedra de Lume are the result of a natural accident. The evaporation ponds occupy the crater of an extinct volcano that's always had a supply of seawater because the base of the crater sits below sea level.'
A great excursion that combines scenery, flora and fauna, villages and gastronomy.
Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Viewing of the Buracona ‘blue eye' and Terra Boa ‘mirage' cannot be guaranteed as both optical illusions are the result of the sun's position

This tour delves into the heart of Cape Verde and allowed myself and a friend to see everything the island has to offer. Our delightful guide, Ari, was knowledgeable and informative about the beaches, sights, animals and culture. Whilst we missed the opportunity to see the ‘blue eye’ due to strong winds- we were not disappointed by the surrounding views which were stunning. The salt lake was the pinnacle of the trip, but we would recommend bringing some wipes as the salt dries everywhere on your body and it’s 1 euro for 30secs of a shower! We had already visited the botanical gardens the day before so we had already seen all the animals, but we found that this tour didn’t allow enough time to see enough. Maybe by skipping the ‘Mirage’ stop, we would have had more time. Overall this was a fantastic tour with a wonderful guide and courtesy driver (he was mindful of pot holes and speed bumps ).

Really good day out. We booked via TUI. Collected on time with a smile from guide and driver. We had a full day visiting various places and we were unhurried and well informed by Edmilleson. I particularly liked the salt lake which was worth the cost of the trip. One negative was the lunch where the service and food were spoilt by hoards of flies. It was good to see the whole island and understand the poverty of the country and its people.

Guide Stef (Stephan?) - AMAZING! He lived almost all his life in Sal so knew not only the textbook facts but also had great local knowledge and anecdotes whilst adding humour, interaction and a bit of football for the 'lads' , which elevated the whole day. He also took the time throughout the day, to talk to me and each family/ couple adding a personal touch. The longest drive was only about 30 minutes as the island isn't too big (Stef had all the facts, but I don't remember them!). Lunch - brochetas not great 5/10. main = local dish carpatcha 9/10. (Fish/chicken/veggie also available) Ice cream desert = recommended by guide Stef - 10/10! Overall a great way to see all the main sights in one day without being rushed nor waiting around.

We had booked an excursion to Sal Island with this claimant, but he never showed up at the scheduled meeting point in front of our hotel. We waited **1h30 under the sun**, without any news. No answer to the phone or messages sent through the app. And since then? **Still no return, no apology.** This is a **total lack of professionalism** and a deep disrespect for customers. Such an attitude is unacceptable, especially when you organize your day around this activity. I strongly advise against this excursion. Fleeing this provider is a waste of time and money! Fortunately refund by TripAdvisor / Viator within 1 week!

Had a really good day out. Lots of amazing views and experiencing floating in the salt lake was great. Visited a lot of places with our TUI guide CLOVIS who was very friendly and gave us a really in depth view of the places we visited and of the island of Sal in general. He was very helpful too assisting us ‘oldies’ on some of the tricky steps we encountered in a couple of places. CLOVIS was also amusing in his commentary and was always happy and smiling. The Blue eye was a fantastic sight and we finished the day with a refreshing cocktail at a local restaurant.

The lion's head was not approached Just like the Kitebeach although the weather was top all day and the water had certainly withdrawn from the rain. Lunch lasted 1.5 h Quality of food was ok. Absacker lasted another 3/4 hours. Too much lost time . Guide told only the most necessary and was most of the time afterwards on the phone or in the shade . Other guides were always with the guests and had also explained in the botanical garden (which was not so exciting ) while our lady crouched in the shade and watched us mobile phone . Half-day tour would have been perfectly enough , one did not see or experience more on this tour. Too bad for double price and half a day holiday !!

Lovely introduction to the Island of Sal. Went to lots of different places to start to get a feel for the island. Guide knew all about the island and country giving lots of knowledge. A wide range of places seen. Great gluten free lunch.
