Þórsmörk is a wide valley, named after the Viking god of thunder, Þór. The nature reserve has an abundance of flowers and trees where the icy river Krossá winds between jagged mountains. A truly epic place to visit on a day tour.
The first stop of the day is the unique Seljalandsfoss waterfall. A must see on any tour heading along the south coast.
We will be crossing rivers and harsh terrain to get to the first views of Gígjökull, an outlet glacier of Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano, a quick stop before continuing to the valley of Þórsmörk.

5.00We had a fantastic tour of Thorsmork with our guide Trggvi (a former Search & Recue Pro) on 12 June 23. He is most knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. He avoided the tourist crowds and took us to many beautiful vistas that were lightly travelled and only reachable by his customized off-road vehicle. He also offered us a number of hiking options that we could choose based on our preferences as to duration and difficulty. We are a family of five, and all of us had a very rewarding and exhilarating (Icelandic) experience. I highly recommend this local company. //TJ Hess
