Mahabodhi Temple
The Mahabodhi Temple Bodh Gaya lies 115 km south of the state capital of Bihar, Patna and 16 km from the district headquarters at Gaya.It is one of the four holy sites related to the life of the Lord Buddha, and particularly to the attainment of Enlightenment. The property encompasses the greatest remains of the 5th-6th century A.D in the Indian sub-continent belonging to this period of antiquity. The property has a total area of 4.8600 ha.The Mahabodhi Temple Complex is the first temple built by Emperor Asoka in the 3rd century B.C. and the present temple dates from the 5th–6th centuries. It is one of the earliest Buddhist temples built entirely in brick, still standing, from the late Gupta period and it is considered to have had significant influence in the development of brick architecture over the centuries.The present Mahabodhi Temple Complex at Bodh Gaya comprises the 50 m high grand Temple, the Vajrasana,

Royal Thai Monastery.With the aim of spreading the messages of Lord Buddha and principles of Buddhism among the masses, some Buddhist monks in collaboration with the government of Thailand established the Thai Temple and Monastery in Gaya in the year 1957. A fine example of Thai architecture, this beautiful site displays myriad colours of Thai culture and tradition.Inside the temple, you can see an enormous Bronze statue of Buddha surrounded by equally beautiful paintings of him.

5.00Bablu was an excellent tour guide, knowledgeable about all things related to Buddhism and the Bodh Gaya sites. Due to the very hot weather, he was happy to be flexible and have an extended break during the mid-day and resume the tour in the late afternoon and early evening. This was a welcome relief from dealing with the hassling from aggressive “tour guides” and “monks” in the area. I booked this tour the afternoon before the tour date and Santosh was very helpful in arranging the logistics, with easy communication via WhatsApp. He also arranged an airport ride for me as well with his driver.

5.00An absolutely incredible day, one I'll never forget. We had the wonderful Bablu as our guide, an extraordinary man and fabulous teacher. He illustrated the history of Buddha by taking us to all the important places. We started at the Bodhi tree and sat and watched as others prayed and received blessings. A magical calm start to the day, especially when a monk shared his grapes with us. So many temples, so much to see and experience. All the colour and scent and atmosphere you could wish for, accompanied by Bablu's calm narrative. Thanks so much. Utterly wonderful!

5.00I’m so glad that I booked this as I had a most wonderful tour! Visiting all the sites were amazing but what also made it wonderful was my tour guide Babalu! He is a certified government tour guide. He was very knowledgeable in history and also very kind and wise. He explained the locations in a very meaningful and sequential way! I definitely recommend this tour and discovering the historical richness of Bodhgaya. Also shout to Baban who was our skillful driver !

5.00Bablu Kumar was our guide and managed everything perfectly. He is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Buddhism and as someone who was born and raised in Bodhgaya was able to trace the history of the surroundings to what it has become today. He is able to answer all questions and his English is excellent.

5.00The tour was very informative and i feel like we left off knowing more about the history of places than we did before. We were taken not only to historical cultural sites, but also to the new monestaries. The tour guide was also a very nice guy and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during the trip. Overall a very enjoyable trip.
It was a great visit.. from beginning to end till I let shanthi tours helped me and my tour guide babluu was amazing..
