From start to finish the tour of western Algarve was spectacular. Johnny modified to suit our choices of places. We enjoyed a lovely seafood lunch inside an amazing fortress at Fortaleza da Luz! saw the many Stork nests along route, beautiful old towns, stunningly beautiful scenic cliff boardwalks especially Ponta da Piedade, and all narrated by a knowledgeable and engaging host: Johnny! The ride was smooth, comfortable and relaxing in between stops. Highly recommend this day tour and it is very reasonably priced!

Johnny was an excellent host and driver for our day in the Western Algarve! He had come highly recommended and was as wonderful as we had been told! We started with an incredible boat ride exploring cliffs and caves, with some very talented boat captains, all arranged by Johnny! We then explored Lagos, Sagres, Burgau, … with endless insights and history offered along the way! We ended our day having an incredible Italian dinner at Ricardo’s, in Albufeira, after discussing the restaurant with Johnny! Thanks for such a memorable day in the Algarve! Amy Erie, Colorado

We’ve now done four tours with Johnny’s Tours, which probably says everything you need know. On Wednesday, we visited Sagres where he brought the history to life in such an engaging way, showing us some really unique and beautiful spots we would never have found on our own. Then on Friday, we had an amazing wine tasting experience, perfectly organised and relaxed. What really sets Johnny apart is how much he genuinely cares about his guests. He connects with everyone, making each tour feel personal and relaxed, and his passion for not only what he does, but the algarve itself shows.

Excellent day out with tour guide Johnny. His knowledge is amazing and he was very engaging with all of us. Party of 6 with ages ranging from 17 to 79 and he tailored the trip exactly to our needs.

Our tour with Johnny to the western Algarve was the beginning of an adventure in exploring the Algarve and its many beautiful and memorable sites. Johnny created a wonderful tour for us to cater to our interests, covering the history of the area; sharing the stunning Algarve coastline, pointing us to restaurants and taking us to sites off the beaten path. Johnny’s love for the Algarve was infectious and he was very generous with his time. We did not want the tour to end. And it didn’t. We were so happy that we continued our Algarve adventures with him to the other destinations. All were a delight and will include him in plans of future trips.

An excellent tour with João (Johnny), a very personable, and extremely organized guide. His knowledge and pride of Portugal shines through as he shows you the gems of the Algarve. We booked two tours with Johnny and thoroughly enjoyed them both. He shared suggestions on things to do and see, and places to eat for other places we would be visiting in Portugal. We will definitely tour again with Johnny on our next trip to Portugal!

We did (3) tours with Johnny’s Tours in Sept 2025. We would definitely recommend him as his knowledge made our experience perfect. You could not have asked for all 3 tours to have gone any better. He was professional and attentive to all details. If going to Albufeira consider tours with Johnny’s tours as you will not be disappointed.

"Johnny" (anglicised version of his Portuguese name) is one of the most approachable, friendly and helpful people that any of us have ever met (and I am 67!). He is equally comfortable / happy to drive you around / to the routes / destinations you specify or to devise one for you based on your broader requirements e.g. "great beaches with family-friendly restaurants". He speaks impeccable English and talks both knowledgeably and passionately about the places you visit. His prices are very competitive and his minibus is roomy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. You could hire a car to drive yourself to / from your accommodation in the Algarve - with all the costs, parking challenges etc that entails or, for quite possibly less money, you could hire Johnny and let him do the driving instead. Importantly - as a born local - he knows and will share with you beautiful "corners" of the area that many other tourists never get to know. Highly recommended!

Johnny is an absolutely awesome tour guide. He showed us stuff you won’t find on another tour. He couldn’t have been nicer to my family. This tour is a must do. If you only do one tour this should be it. Well worth it.
