Fanja Photo Stop Fanja old town is a quaint 400-year old or so village where you can enjoy nice views and go back in time. The abandoned mud houses. We can stop for a short time to take a photo stop from the top.
Wadi Bani Khalid
We depart early from Muscat heading towards the Sharqiya region. On the way, we make a short photo stop at the quaint little village of Fanja, before we continue our journey to Wadi Bani Khalid. This is one of the biggest and most beautiful wadis that Oman is famous for. The wadi canyon is impressive, with its amazing steep walls and breathtaking crystal-clear water pools it is awesome to look at on its own. However, one can also enjoy a swim in the relaxing cool freshwater pool or just sunbathe. The wadi is so grand that you can even have the chance to walk deeper right into the wadi itself or maybe visit its hidden caves you also can have lunch there in local Omani restaurant. Ladies swim wear for Wadi Bani Khalid: Ladies must wear t shirt and under the knees (Bikini is not allowed)

Wow! What a beaut experience! We really had a day to remember. Fanja, Wadi Bin Khalid and finally the epic Wahiba Sands. Every stage of the day allowed us to create some unique memories and in a very relaxed way. Additionally, we were so fortunate to come on the National Holiday weekend as not only did we get to enjoy the epic sites and activities - but we also got to watch some exhilarating dune racing as part of the Bidiyah Car Challenge Carnival. This is all thanks to Jihad our superb tour guide! What a humble, thoughtful and informative guy! We really enjoyed learning from him and generally appreciated his calm vibes throughout the day. Thank you for the snacks and bread rolls for the camel too! We hope to take another tour with Jihad if we ever get the chance again!

Adil was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable and funny! He had an answer for every question we asked. Wadi Bani Khalid was amazing, it was a little busy with other tourists but it didn't detract from the experience and there were plenty of opportunities to find a quiet spot to swim. Adil found us a quiet spot in the desert away from other people to watch the sunset. There was a lot of driving from Muscat but the time passed quickly chatting to Adil. It was nice and convenient to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

Hamood was a great guide - we had him the day before this tour, and asked to make sure we got him again. A great flexible tour, we actually went off script but a great day

We had the trip with Ali. Ali was very pleasant, non-intrusive and he told a lot about Oman, which we found very interesting. The trip alone with Ali we found very personal, because he could respond better to us. We had received very good local food and drink. Wadi Bani Khalid was built straight in front, more coffee shops are being built (which was not disturbing). But we had to hike a little longer. There the view and the water was a dream. Must have seen. Afterwards we went to the Wahiba Sands with camel riding and sunset. Ali had taken beautiful pictures of us and we drank delicious homemade dates and date cookies and Arabic coffee. It was a long day, but nice. Thank you

The day trip was amazing. Our guide was just brilliant. He had an amazing sense of humor and was very cordial and engaging. He made the trip extra special. The sunset point was brilliant. Overall the day was well spent inspite of the crowded Wadi Bani

Who knew desert dreams and culture deep-dives could come wrapped in one epic adventure? I traveled with my 72-year-old mother who walks slowly with a stick—and guess what? It was zero problem thanks to Jihad, our 5-star guide and real-life walking wonder! He speaks English like a BBC host and looks like he’s about to step onto a movie set. (Seriously, he’s real good-looking with well-built physique.) From the golden dunes to the soulful stories of Omani life, this tour wasn’t just a trip—it was a front-row seat to everything you hoped Oman would be. And the number of cultural questions I threw at Jihad? Let’s just say he passed every single one with flying colors. If you want more than a postcard memory—go with this tour. Go with Jihad. You’ll leave with sand in your shoes and a heart full of joy!
