Once in a lifetime experience! Su did an amazing job making sure we saw every animal including leopards and the bear! Highly recommended doing the full day 12 hours as it can take awhile to find the animals (they don’t have trackers). We were 4 ft away from the leopard which is a very rare experience. We were picked up from Hilton Yala which was very close! The hotel was charging $1500 for 3 hours but so glad we booked this experience instead.

I had a memorable safari experience, thanks in large part to our passionate and knowledgeable local guide Darshana. The authentic Sri Lankan food and personal touches added great value. However, there were areas for improvement—specifically, clearer communication about private vs. group tours, more efficient pick-up scheduling, and enhanced food presentation. With these adjustments, the tour could be truly exceptional.

We were delighted with this tour and the skill and knowledge of our driver / guide. He has worked in the National park for 16 years and had a wealth of experience of the animals. At one stage we were one of the first to see a leopard as he heard a warning call from a deer and had the knowledge to know that the call was to raise the alarm to the other dear that danger was close by and followed the call to find the leopard. Highly recommend.

We had a really great safari! Pickup was directly from our Hotel to Yala, where we entered very quickly. At the beginning, there are a lot of Jeeps, but once you‘ve entered the parc there are various ways to go and you see less Trucks. Our Guide Amila told us everything we wanted to know and had some interesting background Knowledge about all kind of animals. Our Highlight were all the water Buffalos relaxing in the seas. We also saw much birds, elephants (even one with Baby!), a turtle, tucans, Peacocks. Unfortunately we missed the Leopard two times, even our Guide Amila tried his very best to find one. But only two other Trucks saw Leopards this day, so it was very hard. My advise: Book a flull-day-tour. You will have a nice lunch Break at the Beach with Great fruits and local Food and when you start again in the afternoon it is less crowdy because all the jeeps with half-day-Tours Are Home.

The positives. I saw a stunning array of animals, including sloth breath, elephants, jackals, purple face monkeys & birds galore. I didn’t get to see the leopard but not through want of trying by the driver. He tried very hard! The lunch and morning snack was all delicious. This review is lacking a star as the full day is far too long in the safari jeep. We were collected at 5am and made it to the gate from Jetwing in 20 mins. Then sat at the gate for 40 mins as it opens at 6am! You don’t need to be first in the queue. Also the park closes between 12-2pm so you sit and eat your lunch at a rest stop for all safari jeeps. The toilets are horrendous and there are limited places to find shade. I was eaten alive by the ants… I highly recommend a shorter morning safari and arrival afternoon safari. Any more than 6 hours and you need a visit to the chiropractor! The jeeps are uncomfortable and throw you around so much that everything hurts and the drivers make so bones about throwing the vehicles around in the pursuit of wildlife. It’s like wacky races between the drivers at points and although I wanted to see a leopard, on occasion it felt uncomfortably like we were hunting them down to corner them in fume belting safari vehicles. The area of the park where you spend the day isn’t that large so you keep revisiting the same roads dozens of times. I wouldn’t go for a ‘leopard safari’ as it’s at the expense of enjoying the full offer of wildlife. The driver spends the day just focusing on the leopard and to be fair I think there are only one or two in the area they are allowed. Cats a territorial!! Keep to six hours MAX and never ever get stuck on the back seat. It’s a killer on the back, shoulders and pelvis. Animals and views will wow you for 4- 6hours at a time. 14hrs and you will just be desperate to get back to the hotel!
