This is an amazing full day trip for anyone interested in getting out on the water and sailing. You can be a beginner who wants to learn how to sail, or an experienced skipper. The sail will take us under the famous Forth Rail Bridge, before passing the many inner islands of the Forth, most noticeably Inchcolm Island. We will then sail out to Inchkeith Island (opposite Kinghorn in Fife) where we are likely to anchor for lunch. After this we will sail back to Port Edgar Marina, taking in the spectacular view of the Edinburgh skyline.

I can’t recommend this experience enough! What a lovely, unique way to spend a day! We were welcomed onboard with a nice cup of tea by really friendly, chatty crew before setting sail under the famous bridges on the Firth of Forth, we were lucky enough to have the company of a dolphin on our way out of the marina and some really nice passengers to chat to. You are asked if you’d like a go at sailing the yacht which is good fun and I’d recommend but there’s no pressure to do so. We came back into the marina at lunchtime for a quick pit stop and for the half day people to swap over. There are some wee cafes and shops at the marina which we didn’t know were there if you want to grab a quick bite to eat. Then we re boarded and headed out in the other direction up to Blackness Castle. The crew are very knowledgeable about the area and are great to chat to but if you want to be left alone just to enjoy the scenery you can absolutely be left in peace too. We were very lucky with the weather (almost too lucky when the wind disappeared!) and we had some great people on board to chat to (special thanks to Judith the birthday girl for sharing her champagne, it really did add extra joy to our day!) It was a fabulous day and wonderful to see these famous bridges from a different perspective! Thank you Colin for the best day out! Helen & John

Thank you so much to Colin and Harry for our trip yesterday! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sail and they had nothing but great things to say on our drive home. We did 3-4 hours of sailing, stopped for lunch in Oban and then continued for another 3-4 hours of sailing in the afternoon. We were allowed to be hands on and get involved in the activity as much or as little as we liked. Very welcoming and accommodating. Would recommend as it's a great day out.

We went on the full day sailing trip from Dunstaffnage marina with another couple Colin and Heather. We sailed from 9am and got back to the marina at 4.45pm. On the trip we sailed past Castle Stalker which was a treat and along the way got a surprise when we spotted a pod of dolphins jumping out of the loch. The team are great who were welcoming and made you feel part of the experience. Captain Colin came across knowledgeable, trustworthy and made you feel like you were in safe hands. Simon and Graham were both capable and friendly crew. Plenty of laughs and would recommend highly.

Fantastic way to celebrate a big birthday. We sailed with Colin and Forrester out of Dunstaffnage and had a brilliant day. So much wildlife to see - many sea birds, seals, porpoises, dolphins and even a sea eagle. We just missed the mythical wild piglets of Pig Island but we hope to go back and see them another time. If you're looking for a very special experience, a day's sailing with Edinburgh Boat Charters is for you!

We had a fantastic trip with Colin out of Port Edgar last summer 2020 and this summer 2021 on his catamaran. We loved it so much that we decided to travel to the west coast and sail out of Oban on Inspired Capital, his beautiful sailing boat. Colin was fantastic with my three boys, 11,8 and 6 and got them all involved. They loved searching for wildlife with the binoculars, tugging on ropes, jumping in the freezing cold sea and even playing hide and seek on the boat - Colin was very patient! The scenery was spectacular and my boys loved the open air as did my mother. My husband loved having the chance to sail again and navigate through the Corryvreckan whirl pools which my boys found amazing - they are definitely worth seeing. Colin was great company- always kind and extremely patient with three bouncy boys who are now very keen to go again! Do book!

A day sailing this beautiful catamaran along the Firth of Forth was the perfect way to celebrate my partner’s 50th birthday. Joined by our two grown up kids on a private day charter we all had a fantastic time, and would return for further trips in a heartbeat (the two of us also did a west coast overnighter to Tobermory, see separate review). Colin is a great host and skipper. Excellent communication and information before our trip, and a friendly welcome on board. We felt very safe all day with life jackets provided and COVID measures in place. Colin was so patient. The kids hadn’t sailed before, but he was more than happy to guide them with rope work and taking the helm, which they both enjoyed thoroughly. We had recently completed our competent crew course so bombarded Colin with countless questions, and felt truly supported as we put our new skills into practice. But if you just want to sit back and watch the world go by this was also fine. We had lovely weather, a gentle breeze and the sun out made it perfect sailing weather, however there is a large covered area and a motor if the rain and wind do not cooperate! Due to restrictions at the time we brought along our own food, but tea and coffee was available on board I wouldn’t hesitate in taking a trip with Edinburgh Boat Charters again, if you are considering it but have some reservations, either just go for it, or get in touch with them for reassurance,

We had a fantastic day with Colin, we were looking to experience sailing on a catamaran after getting our Day Skipper course. Colin was extremely patience and eager to show us the differences between a monohull and a multihull catamaran. To top it up, we had lots of wind so it was a fantastic day out!
