What To Expect
Las Murallas de Avila
The work was started in 1090 but most of the defensive wall appears to have been rebuilt in the 12th century. The enclosed area is an irregular rectangle of 31 hectares with a perimeter of some 2,516 meters, including 88 semicircular towers. The walls have an average width of 3 metres and an average height of 12 metres. The nine gates were completed over several different periods.
Segovia Cathedral is the Gothic-style Roman Catholic cathedral located in the main square (Plaza Mayor) of the city of Segovia, in the community of Castile-Leon, Spain. The church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built in a Gothic style in the mid-16th century.

5.00Very nice tour of ávila and segovia hitting the main attractions. The crowd size was not too big and the pace was perfect. We also enjoyed the down time to spend on our own. The tour guide and bus driver were very friendly and helpful.

5.00Ramiro and Xavier were amazing . Ramiro took time to explain in Spanish and English and even a bit of Italian for all. He moved the tour along , as well as taking time to explain history , extra info, places to eat, were to visit. He made sure our tour stayed together and that we all understood and enjoyed the tour.

5.00Very nice format to see two cities: about 45 min walk with the tour guide (Angi) to get oriented, then some time to explore (about 1 hr free time in Avila, about 2 or 2.5 hrs in Segovia). Tour was bilingual on the bus, but split into a separate English or Spanish speaking group in each city. Comfortable bus, though no bathroom on the bus.

5.00Had a fantastic day. Our guide Angy was friendly and accommodating and provided us with the history and context of our destinations in Spanish and English. She and our driver Javier also kept us on good time! In total we had just under 2hrs in Ávila and just under 4hrs in Segovia. I opted out of the guided tour elements to explore by myself and at greater speed than a tour group. This gave me time to cover a lot of distance, visit the interiors of the cathedrals, basilica, the Alcázar, and walk the walks of Ávila both up top and round the outside. For the highlights (the walls of Ávila and the Alcazar and Aqueduct of Segovia), this tour allows plenty of free time. Thanks for an unforgettable day!
