Meeting of Waters
The tour starts at 8 a.m. when you are picked up at your hotel by your guide. You are then taken to the port of Ceasa, where you will board a speedboat. The first stop is Catalao, a floating village where you will see the largest scaled fish in the world – the Giant Arapaima Gigas. Touch them if you dare! Don’t worry, although they are strong, they are harmless. You can also feed them if you like. The next stop on our tour is the meeting of the waters. This is where the black waters of the Rio Negro meet the brown waters of the Solimões River, and AMAZINGLY, the two colors don’t mix! The Rio Negro is a tributary of the Amazon that originates in Colombia. It gets its dark color from dissolved minerals and decaying plants. The Solimões River, on the other hand, gets its light brown color from sediment. So when the two rivers meet, they form a striking contrast that is truly fascinating to behold. Don’t forget to take pictures for your social media pages!
After an eventful day of exploring the rivers, it’s time to head back to port and get in the car for a 1-hour drive. We’ll be crossing over the Rio Negro bridge and heading to the other side of the Cachoeira Village. Once we’re there, we’ll board a boat that will take us to a floating house. This is where we’ll go swimming with the pink river dolphins in their natural habitat. After swimming, we’ll head to a floating restaurant for lunch. There, we’ll be served a local fish of the Amazon called tambaqui.

Highly capable guides, got us to where they promised with plenty of time ("no need to hurry"). Ken, our local guide was so knowledgeable about the geography, culture, and animals of the region. We were so lucky to have him on that day!

Not sure this is the correct operator but he offers what we did. A day up the Negro to see & swim with the pink dolphins. Wow! A must!
