Add a second country to your trip with a well paced day tour from Bucharest to northern Bulgaria, covering three distinct stops in one itinerary: Ruse, Arbanasi, and Veliko Tarnovo.
After crossing the Danube, enjoy a short stop in Ruse, including the city center pedestrian area and the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, then continue to the traditional village of Arbanasi, known for its historic houses and local atmosphere.
The highlight of the day is Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria’s medieval capital, where you will visit the Tsarevets Fortress and have free time to explore and enjoy the panoramic hilltop views.
A tour leader keeps the schedule on track and shares practical context about Bulgaria between stops, making this an easy, efficient way to experience the country in one day. Timings may vary depending on border procedures and traffic.

We had an amazing experience with our guide! He is a fantastic storyteller who brought every place to life with his knowledge and passion. On top of that, he was a very careful and safe driver, which made the whole journey feel relaxed and comfortable. I truly enjoyed every minute of the tour with him — highly recommended

I recently went on a 1-day trip within Bulgaria, and overall, it was a great experience. The tour was incredibly well-organized from start to finish. The shuttle was a highlight—it was exceptionally neat and clean, which made the transit between locations very comfortable. Our guide was also fantastic; they were super friendly, supportive, and went out of their way to make sure everyone in the group was taken care of and informed. The only reason I’m not giving this a full 5 stars (or "My only recommendation for improvement") is the timing at the sites. I felt the visit times were a bit short. I would suggest extending the time at each stop slightly so that guests can enjoy the beauty and history of these places without feeling rushed. Overall, a highly professional service that I would definitely recommend!

Our guide, Lucian David, was good, amusing commentary. Transport was in a comfortable 20 seater minibus. First stop was Rousse, pleasant but nothing special. The church in Arbanasi was well worth seeing, amazing frescoes and good views, would have liked some free time as village was beautiful. Excellent pizza restaurant for lunch in Vileko Taranova and stunning views all around the town. A good walk up to the fortress, definitely worth doing for amazing views and surprisingly modern frescoes in the church. All in all a great day and good value.
