This tour is a unique blend of a guided history tour through Reykjavík with an introduction into traditional local cuisine and locally brewed craft beers. We make 5 foodie stops to taste at least 8 local Icelandic dishes and 4 locally brewed craft beers.
Among the funky delicacies you will get to try are the fermented shark, the dried fish, the heart-warming lamb soup, the famous hot dog and more. You will learn about what kind of foods have been the staple of Icelandic cuisine, how Icelanders have preserved foods through the ages, and learn about some food-related traditions. Food lovers unite and kill three birds with one stone: Join us on a guided Reykjavik walking tour, taste some of the most traditional Icelandic foods, and taste some of the funkiest craft beers!
This is a small group experience, with no more than 8 people per tour, because we want you to be able to shoot at us any and all questions you might possibly have and truly connect with you.

Lalli was an excellent tour guide. He was born and raised there and comes from a nine century family. He knows the history, he's fun and easy to talk to. The tour was outstanding! We tasted everything from where the local's get fish and chips to the dreaded fermented shark (I'm glad I did it, but would not ever again - lol). I hope I get a chance to go back to Iceland and if I do I expect to look up Funky Iceland and take another tour.

Lalli was a great source of information, combining historic with personal bits to weave a intrigate web of Iceland. All filled with the good bits...food and drink. Stories and the places where it all happened at your disposal. Fun and personal, old and new, bitter and sweet:) A wholehearted thank you from us! Hopefully till August 2026!!

We had a wonderful time. It ended up just being my friend and I so it was kind of a private tour. Food and beer were great! Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and was great company. Would highly recommend

Lalli was a hoot, and just frickin' amazing! If you want to enjoy, learn, and see what Iceland and Reykjavik is about, go with Lalli. His knowledge is superb, his humor is even better, and his English accent is best. If I were to change one thing, I would book a tour with Lalli at the beginning, and another tour with Lalli at the end. Lalli takes his time to make sure your questions are answered, but we accumulated more questions during our stay, and wished we had Lalli to help. Hence, go with Lalli, and if you can, go with Lalli at the beginning, and another tour at the end with Lalli.

Lalli our guide was exceptional. He had a very deep and clear understanding of Icelandic history and the food associated with particular time periods. He was fun and funny! I would recommend the tour 100%! We tried foods from different periods of Icelandic history from Greenland shark to fish and chips and even a flight of beers from a local microbrewery. Again, Lalli was wonderful! Couldn’t ask for a better guide.

Took this tour on my first day in Reykjavik, and I'm so glad I did! Lalli was the perfect guide, taking us through hundreds of years of Icelandic cuisine, from the traditional hardship foods to the present day, giving us context for everything on our plates. It was the exact right orientation I needed for my first day in Iceland; I can't recommend it highly enough!

I did the food and beer tour with Lalli on Sunday, the day I arrived in Reykjavik. It was a great introduction to Iceland and to the city. The food and beer was delicious (the fermented shark wasn't that bad, really). Lalli has a gift for storytelling which is really what made the experience for me. I would have booked more tours with Funky Iceland if my schedule had allowed it.
