Garni temple, one of the most famous historical and architectural monuments among tourists, is located in Kotayk province. It is the only structure preserved in Armenia from the pagan period, dedicated to the god Mihr.
Before reaching the temple, we will have a stop on the way to Charents Arch, from where a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens.
Then we will visit Geghard Monastery (Ayrivank), where according to the legend, from the XIII century the spear with which Christ was pierced was kept here.
As a part of the tour, we will visit the Azat River gorge, where we will see the “Symphony of Stones՛”, a miracle of nature. The natural monument, also known as the ՛՛Basalt Organ՛՛, is famous for its magnificent, seemingly artificial rocks.

Charent's Arch
While passing through the village of Voghjaberd, the architect Rafael Israelyan often noticed that a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens from the nearby hill. And here, in 1957, Israelyan completed the structure he designed, which is called the Mount Ararat Temple. The last line of Yeghishe Charents's poem is engraved in visible large letters on the front entrance. "Go to the world; there is no white peak like Ararat, like the path of unripe glory; I love my Masis mountain." Very soon the place got its new, popular and more widespread name - The Arch of Charents. We start the tour with the viewpoint of Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenia.
The Monastery of Geghard
Geghard Monastery is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank, meaning “the Monastery of the Spear”, originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion. It is believed, that the spear was brought to Armenia by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Now it is displayed in the Echmiadzin treasury. The monastery complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with enhanced protection status.

Loved the guided tour! Our guide Hasmik was wonderful! She's very kin, interested and knowledgeable, and a great person! It fostered a very nice energy in the group. During the drive she was educating us about Armenia and providing historical context, which she elaborated on at the monastery and temple. At the locations, half of the time was guided and half the time we had time to roam around on our own while Hasmik repeated the explanations in Russian to the Russian people on the tour. This gave a nice balance between learning and getting time to explore & meet the other people on the tour. Our driver Ruben did a great job and drove safe too :)

This was an alright kinda experience. The guide yegor was informative but too much of information put me and others to sleep. He spoke very fast like a recording on 2x speed and lacked chronology in the factual description. Felt more like factual regurgitation rather than story telling. The tour was short which is okay because thats why i booked it so I had time to relax before I leave. The leg space in this car was limited so I couldn't sit properly. The resturnat we were taken to had limited to no vegeratarian main course option except salads so I would advise you to take something with you if you cant survive on salad. Try pakhlava for sure.

A fantastic and perfectly organized experience. Garni, Geghard, and the places visited along the route were splendid, but what made the tour truly special was the guide. With great professionalism, enthusiasm, and availability, he accompanied us in discovering not only the historical sites but also the history, traditions, and daily life of the Armenian people. He managed to convey to us the strong sense of belonging and the deep bond that Armenians have with their land and their history. Thanks to this tour, we return home with a much deeper understanding of Armenia and with wonderful memories. Absolutely recommended.

From the moment we met Ovanes, we knew we were in great hands. His warm welcome, deep knowledge of the area and the country in general, and ability to share fascinating stories made every stop along the way come alive. He balanced history, culture, and humour perfectly, making the tour both educational and fun. We also appreciated his professionalism in answering all our questions. It felt less like a formal tour and more like exploring with a knowledgeable friend. If you’re looking for a guide who truly cares about creating a memorable experience, Ovanes is the one to book. We left with not just great memories, but a deeper connection to the place we visited. I would highly recommend it, despite of some rainy weather, we really enjoyed it!
