Khor Virap

Khor Virap is located near the border of Armenia and Turkey, just 40 km from Yerevan. This ancient royal prison is where Saint Gregory the Illuminator, founder of the Armenian Apostolic Church, was imprisoned for 13 years. On clear days, it offers breathtaking views of the sacred Mount Ararat.

Noravank Monastery

Noravank translates as “new monastery,” though most structures date back to the 13th-14th centuries. The main attraction is the Holy Mother of God Church, built by the famous master Momik for the Orbelian family as a mausoleum.
