In this tutored gin tasting, led by the Head Distiller, you’ll have the opportunity taste the traditional gin botanicals (Juniper, Coriander, Angelica, Orris) as single distillates, training your palette to the individual flavours that make gin…gin. This is an essential skill for any gin connoisseur!
Sample the range of small batch Aberdeen Gin expressions (London Dry and Fruit gins).
Challenge yourself with the mystery single distillate – will you be the first to guess the botanical?
The event concludes with a G&T of your choice – choose any gin from the range or perhaps one of the single distillates you’ve enjoyed during the event.
All of the distillates / gins have been crafted using premium organic alcohol – luxuriously smooth.
Once you’ve finished the tasting you’ll gain the ability to recognise the flavours that make up gin. Take this knowledge home, explore your gin shelves and enjoy your very own tasting with the skills you’ve learned during this Gin Tasting Masterclass.

Double G&T on arrival, single distillates, samples of gin, G&T of your choice
Have you ever wondered what Juniper tastes like? Would you like to become an expert gin taster? Starting with a double G&T and led by the Head Distiller, the Gin Tasting Masterclass opens up a world of flavour as you experience flavours through a range of single distillates. Each botanical found in a traditional London Dry Gin has been individually distilled so you may train your palate to recognise the distinct flavours the come together to make gin. Next, become a mixologist and blend these distillates together to create your own glass of gin. Put your new found skills to the test with a challenge – a mystery botanical as a single distillate – can you guess what botanical has been distilled based on flavour? Enjoy samples from the range of Aberdeen Gins – served directly from beautiful French glass demi-johns – both London Dry and Fruit Gins. Finally, choose your preferred gin from the range and sip a final G&T as the event concludes with a Q&A session – the perfect time to ask all those gin related questions, such as… How long can I keep my gin? What should I look for when purchasing gin? Is London Dry Gin all from London? Can I make my own gin at home?

We did the City of Aberdeen Distillery gin tasting experience last Thursday. It was a 4pm — 6pm session which was perfect. Two and a bit fascinating and wonderful hours thanks to the expertise of Dan and Allan. Totally opened my mind to what goes into creating a great gin. We were two amongst 16 from around the world enjoying this superb experience. Obviously it helps a lot if you like gin and little point if you are tee total. Starts and finishes with a large g&t with lots of small tasting samples you prepare individually. I want to try the gin school next. 😊👍

I can’t even tell you how amazing this class is! Even if you don’t like gin, this class is still amazing. It teaches you the deconstructed basics of gin and gives you some unique tastings. The staff (Don and Allen) are super knowledgeable and fun. 5+++ stars!!

One of the best things I have had the pleasure of booking. Dan & Alan are the perfect team and their passion shows. I had an absolute ball. The group was small and we all chatted and laughed. There was a good selection of things to purchase, especially for long haul travel. Thoroughly recommend

Amazing experience. Loved the class. Dan and Allan were so friendly and welcoming. They also extended the time on my voucher as I was unable to attend before the time ran out. Cannot thank them enough. Definitely worth a visit. Would buy this experience for someone as a gift. And the gin is spectacular.

I like Gin and have a coup,e i strongly favor. My husband not so much, until this class. He now has a greater admiration and respect for gin. One blocked road having some construction, made it not so easy to find. Best parking is at the nearby mall lot and walk to the distillery. Elen and Dan do a remarkable job explaining the process used to produce gin. Starting off with a G&T, you learn about the alcohol chosen for the gin, and even more importantly, the botanicals that can be used o flavour it. Gin must be above 42% and have juniper distillate included. Any other botanicals is up to the maker. And you can make your own at home! We had a group of 7 and each had different interpretations of the aromas given off by the botanical distillates, cardamom, angelica, coriander, to name just a few! You then can mix the botanical distillates studied into a new G&T. Beware, even just small sips on the distillates and the two G&Ts may leave you feeling it the next day!

Interesting and fun "Gin Tasting Master Class". We were greeted by two friendly hosts, Alan and Dan, and received a double GT before we learned about the history behind the distillery. Secondly we got to learn about various botanicals, and got challenged taste sense. The hosts were knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended!

Allan and Dan are there with a heart and you can tell them the desire to brew (distill) gin. It was an amusing entertaining pleasure, and you even learn something.

Amazing evening at the gin masterclass with City of Aberdeen Distillery. Very knowledgable hosts and such an interesting idea teaching people about the individual botanicals which can make up a gin - I’ve never been to a tasting like it before and would definitely recommend!
