Hensol Castle Distillery is located in the cellars of the historic Hensol Castle, a 17th century castle located in the beautiful Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan.
Our gin tour lasts 90 minutes and gives an in-depth insight into the history of Hensol Castle, many of its previous owners having links to the tasty spirits, as well as the history of gin and how it became the popular spirit it is today.
You will then be taken to our botanical room where you will discover over 50 unique and wonderful botancials from all over the world. You will be able to touch, smell and taste them before enjoying a gin tasting with our three delicious Hensol Castle gin.
Finally, enjoy a G&T of your choice in our bar at the end before browsing our shop for some gin-tastic items.

Rum Making course and tout

5.00The course was a birthday present and wasn’t sure what to expect but it was fantastic from beginning to end. We arrived in the lovely bar area and were given a glass of the cherry rum to try which was of course stunning. We then embarked on the tour and finally the rum making. Pete, Dan and Jan were all knowledgeable and helpful and we learned about the process before making our own bottle. It was really good fun! We then ended up back in the bar for more rum! A really enjoyable afternoon, highly recommended whether you like rum or not! Excellent!

5.00The experience was great. We did not know if we were at the right place as could not find anyone to ask! Eventually someone came to soak to us. Waiting staff very busy getting ready for lunchtime so were too occupied to speak to us. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a phenomenal amount of information. All very interesting facts about the castle and the history of gin. We did the gin making experience and our guide was very helpful. We had a free drink at the end and samples throughout the tour. We would have purchased some snacks if they were available to soak up the alcohol! We ordered some coffee at the end and were kept waiting a very long time. The tour was longer than we thought, about 4 hours. Excellent value in a beautiful setting. Thank you. Would recommend.

5.00What an excellent experience! We learnt a lot and felt that our guide was knowledgeable and easy to listen to. He was obviously interested in the distillery and its products and enriched our visit. He encouraged our questions and always had the answers at his fingertips. We enjoyed trying the products offered too. A lovely tour. Thank you Hensol Distillery.

4.00We enjoyed the tour, finding it interesting and especially the reference to the history of Hensol Castle. Learnt a lot about the making of gin. We were lucky enough to have our tour as a gift. Length of visit was about 1 and a half hours. A gin and tonic at the end of the tour was very welcome. Our tour guide was friendly and fun.
Will be back for the gin making course.

5.00A great experience and throughly enjoyable. Even thou the regular tour guide wasn't available the stand in was exceptional. Very relaxed and knowledgeable he guided us with charm and wit throughout the whole tour. The highlight of the tour was the tastings and the expertise of the barman guided us through the various rums and gins available. There was the opportunity to buy at a discounted price and I have to say that we came away with a few gins and rum to enjoy and remember the experience. The experience was just the right length and with the option to relax in the atmospheric bar at the end of the tour was perfect. The tour itself had just the right number of participants and allowed everyone ample time to view and enjoy the tour. Will be back for the gin making course!

5.00We took a gin-making class at Hensol distillery along with four others, just the right size group. Our guide, Luke, was a mine of information, both about the history of Hensol Castle and the gin making process. It was great fun and we came away with a bottle of gin we made ourselves to our chosen recipe. Tomorrow we can open it and find out if we made good choices! I’d certainly recommend this experience!

2.00The afternoon tea was exceptional! The service not so much! Followed by the gin tour. Really cold and the 1 diffuser didn't hide the smell of sewerage. I'm not sure what the tour guide had against the management but he made it quite clear he wasn't happy with them. I really don't want to know about ur trust issues! I'm a fan.of hensol gin but definate lack of atmosphere on the tour. X
