Mud Volcanoes
Mud volcanoes One of the features of the geology of the region is that there are many mud volcanoes on these lands. A dirt road, not devoid of romanticism, will lead to the accumulation of their active craters. According to legend, djinn live in these places. Volcanic mud, which is based on blue clay, creates a landscape like the moon. And the only thing that calms a tourist who does not want to say goodbye to this phantasmagoric spectacle is the anticipation of contemplating even more interesting landscapes.

Our trip to Kobustan was very enjoyable from start to finish. Only the restaurant we went to as part of the tour didn't really appeal to me, but everything else was enjoyable. I would especially like to thank our tour guide, Ms. Naz, for her cheerful demeanor, high energy, and attentiveness throughout the tour.

A packed, fast-paced day covering an impressive range: the world's first oil well, mud volcanoes, the Gobustan National Museum, the burning mountain and the fire temple. A lot of ground, literally and figuratively. Nuray, the local tour guide, was the highlight. Friendly, funny, knowledgeable and genuinely attentive to the group. She spoke both English and Turkish, keept the energy up and was always open to questions. Five stars for her without hesitation. Both the National Museum and the Open Air Museum were very crowded, which limits how deep you can go. Think of this tour as a compelling introduction rather than an in-depth visit. Those who want more will know exactly where to come back. One note for the agency: the tour price covers the vehicle, guiding and the excursion itself, but museum tickets, the mud volcano transfer and lunch are all extra and end up costing significantly more than the tour itself. A bundled package would make the experience feel fairer and more transparent from the start. Also, the van's tires were visibly worn, so a bit more attention to vehicle maintenance would be welcome. The driving itself was careful and attentive throughout. Overall a great day out, and the guide makes it.

Nuray, the guide, is knowledgeable and nice person as well. She pays attention to everybody’s questions and needs. Gobustan site is wonderful, both for nature and the petroglyphs. Absolutely recommend!

Our trip to Gobustan and Absheron was absolutely amazing and felt out of this world! From the bizarre bubbling mud volcanoes and the mesmerizing fires at Yanardag to seeing the world's first mechanically drilled oil field, we were completely in awe of the incredible history and landscapes. A huge shoutout to our guide, Seyid, who was fantastic. He shared so much fascinating information and history, making the entire journey engaging, clear, and unforgettable. If you are visiting Azerbaijan, this tour is an absolute must-do!
