Goree island is a must see if you’re in country. The driver, David, was an absolute gem. The tour guide for the Isle of Goree was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The pink lake was a little underwhelming. It was more like a reddish brown. It all depends on the time of year. A little boat ride is included in the price. However if you want to go in the dunes with a jeep or ATV that is extra. If you’re on a budget you can take a taxi or Yango (ride share) to the ferry terminal and get a round trip ticket for 2,500 CFA and walk around the island for free without a guide. The museum is an extra 2,000 CFA.

Dakar, Senegal, is a must-visit destination for those seeking a rich blend of history, culture, and vibrant city life. As the westernmost point of Africa, Senegal has long been a crossroads of trade, migration, and resistance, with its history deeply tied to the transatlantic slave trade—best explored at Gorée Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Beyond its historical significance, Dakar pulses with grassroots energy, where traditional West African customs harmonize with modern influences in music, fashion, and art. The city’s streets are alive with the sounds of mbalax music, bustling markets, and the warm hospitality of the Senegalese people. No visit is complete without indulging in the country’s renowned culinary scene, where dishes like thieboudienne (Senegal’s national dish of fish and rice), yassa poulet, and fresh seafood reflect the region’s rich flavors. From its historic roots to its contemporary vibrancy, Dakar offers an unforgettable experience that seamlessly blends the past and present.

This tour was amazing. Revisiting the steps of my Ancestors is always moving. Learning about the island enriched my understanding of my history.

Not only did we see Goree Island and Pink Lake, we also did the walk with the lions, another animal reserve AND Saloum Island. Abdul and Thala, his driver, did a wonderful job! I went from March 3rd to March 9th, actually just came back earlier today but didn't want to forget to post this review! Abdul was wonderful with our language, respectful and for me, great with my daughter, Briyelle. She has not stopped talking about her African trip since we landed. Thanks again for a wonderful time.

We are a group of 12 people. 4 young children, 4 adults and 4 pensioners. We chose to spend our stay with Tige. He's EXTRAORDINARY. Every day thanks to him, we visit Senegal. For our safety, we need a guide so that we can be quiet on the streets. Places we couldn't go without him. We visited school, nursery, clinic, typical villages. We made a canoe out of sine saloum. Visit Gorée Island, Shell Island, Pink Lake, Markets... In short the program is TOP not to be bored. Tige is listening to us, he is attentive. We feel safe and secure. Mood is friendly. She is a friendly and punctual person for our excursions. It is a beautiful country with values. Go if you want a change of scenery, you will come back looking at the world from a different perspective. 00221 77 642 15 02

I had an absolutely wonderful time on this tour. Unfortunately because of the time of year that I visited the lake was not pink but I really enjoy going out on the lake on the boat. I even got to row a little bit. Abdoulaye Took really good care of me, and made sure that I had a good time. He answered all of my questions and made sure I enjoyed myself.

I had a great time on on my tour of Lac Rose and Gorée Island. My tour guide, Abdoulaye, was very accommodating and knowledgeable about both sites - he also speaks good English so it was easy to communicate with him. He was friendly, professional and ensured that I was comfortable throughout the tour. Senegal is full of unique landscapes and has a rich history to learn about. I would definitely recommend doing this tour!
