Mather Point
Scenic viewpoint along South Rim, popular for its canyon vistas
Maricopa Point
In addition to stunning vistas, Maricopa Point looks out over the former Orphan Lode Mine, claimed in 1891 by miner Dan Hogan. Originally mining copper, Hogan switched to uranium ore in the 1950s. Mining operations ended in 1967. Grand Canyon National Park acquired the property in 1987 but only began major environmental restoration in 2008

5.00Camilla was fantastic. She customized our itinerary to accommodate various age and physical boundaries. Camilla’s efforts in putting together a delicious picnic lunch with various dietary restrictions, and her easy going banter made our 6-hour trip fly by! Highly recommend

5.00Francesca was an incredible guide! She is so full of knowledge and gave a fabulous perspective as a 1/2 Navajo person. Traveling with 20 something kids, she shared info that was relatable & interesting. I can’t imagine tackling a place so huge without a guide. We spent our first 4 hours on the rim and visiting different outlooks. We covered a lot of ground and hiked down into the canyon on the Kaibab trail after a nice lunch at Shoshone point.
Matt accommodated our changes to the planned hike to make it less strenuous, and more enjoyable for us.

5.00Matt was incredible and we highly recommend! We did a full day private hike of the Grand Canyon in Aug 2025 and we’re so grateful for all his knowledge, expertise and kindness during our tour. I had some limitations with the hikes I could do and Matt made sure we got the full experience regardless. He also set up a lovely lunch and drove us to and from the Grand Canyon from our resort. Thank you so much, Matt!

5.00We did a two-hour hike into the Grand Canyon in early August, guided by Matt. It was an unforgettable experience! Matt was an excellent guide—very knowledgeable, professional, and attentive, yet also friendly and approachable. We stopped at several natural points of interest along the way, and each stop was a chance to learn something new about the Canyon thanks to Matt’s clear and engaging explanations. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the Grand Canyon in a meaningful and authentic way!

5.00A wonderful day spent with our Good Trip Adventures guide Laura. Everything exceeded expectations - from the reservation to the pre-hike planning and the actual tour itself. Laura was exceptional! She was knowledgeable, informative, interesting and attentive. The entire excursion (including pickup and drop-off and our sunset "picnic") was awesome, including the numerous canyon viewpoints and photo opps - making for a perfect day. Ask for Laura by name if doing this excursion. You won't be disappointed!

5.00Best decision we made was to book this tour!! And Matt made it even more incredible! We got snow overnight, and Matt had spikes for our shoes to make sure we could do our hike. We saw many people slipping and sliding. Not us! Matt was a wealth of knowledge. He told us about how the canyon was formed and then showed us, as we made our way down, how we were going backwards in time. He pointed out fossils and edible plants and facts about how the native people survived in this area. He was also very considerate of everyone in our group, making sure to take breaks when needed. Without this tour, we would have been lost and not made it below the rim. And now we’re part of the 5%!! Matt even prepared the most delicious lunch for us, managing to satisfy a strict vegan, a couple of part-time vegans, and a non-vegan!! It was the most enjoyable day of our already amazing trip, and we are so thankful for Matt!! If you are on the fence, just book this tour!! You’ll be so happy you did!
