Mather Point
Scenic viewpoint along South Rim, popular for its canyon vistas
Maricopa Point
In addition to stunning vistas, Maricopa Point looks out over the former Orphan Lode Mine, claimed in 1891 by miner Dan Hogan. Originally mining copper, Hogan switched to uranium ore in the 1950s. Mining operations ended in 1967. Grand Canyon National Park acquired the property in 1987 but only began major environmental restoration in 2008

5.00Our guide, Matt, who’s a geologist made each step along the trail a history lesson. He adjusted to our quick pace and filled the steps with fascinating knowledge. Plus incredible snacks and picnic lunch.

5.00Matt with Good Trip Adventures was an excellent tour guide and truly made our Grand Canyon trip memorable. He was very friendly, approachable, and made us feel comfortable from the start. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does and wants everyone to have a great experience. One of the things we appreciated most was his knowledge of the area. As a geologist, he was able to explain how the canyon was formed and point out features we never would have noticed on our own. He shared a lot of interesting information throughout the day. Matt was also very helpful, answered all of our questions, and made sure everyone was taken care of. Matt also prepared a wonderful lunch for us at the campground, which was a really nice touch and gave us a chance to relax and take in the scenery. On top of that, he took some fantastic photos of our group throughout the day. Not only did he know all the best viewpoints, but he also made sure we came home with great pictures and memories from the trip. His enthusiasm for the Grand Canyon was contagious and added so much to the experience. We would highly recommend Matt to anyone visiting the Grand Canyon. He helped turn a great trip into a truly unforgettable one. Thanks again, Matt!

5.00Planning the trip with good trip was easy and collaborative. Alex made us feel like our trip was very important to her as well as us. Our guide was matt Bloomfield. What a pleasure. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, responsive, and had great stories. He adjusted the tour based on what our needs were. He was so personable that our day together felt more like a friendship than a formal guide. He has a degree in geology and an interest in the history and culture of the area which was what we were interested. Thankyou!!

5.00Francesca and Justin were our guides during my family’s spring break to the Grand Canyon, and they were wonderful. My family’s group ranged from ages 2-71, and they planned the day with the perfect mix of sightseeing, lunch and walking. Both of them were a pleasure to be around and had great insight and knowledge of the Grand Canyon. Francesca’s local knowledge and her stories of the Dine people and their history in the region were fascinating to learn. I highly recommend them!

5.00Camilla was fantastic. She customized our itinerary to accommodate various age and physical boundaries. Camilla’s efforts in putting together a delicious picnic lunch with various dietary restrictions, and her easy going banter made our 6-hour trip fly by! Highly recommend

5.00Francesca was an incredible guide! She is so full of knowledge and gave a fabulous perspective as a 1/2 Navajo person. Traveling with 20 something kids, she shared info that was relatable & interesting. I can’t imagine tackling a place so huge without a guide. We spent our first 4 hours on the rim and visiting different outlooks. We covered a lot of ground and hiked down into the canyon on the Kaibab trail after a nice lunch at Shoshone point.
Matt accommodated our changes to the planned hike to make it less strenuous, and more enjoyable for us.

5.00Matt was incredible and we highly recommend! We did a full day private hike of the Grand Canyon in Aug 2025 and we’re so grateful for all his knowledge, expertise and kindness during our tour. I had some limitations with the hikes I could do and Matt made sure we got the full experience regardless. He also set up a lovely lunch and drove us to and from the Grand Canyon from our resort. Thank you so much, Matt!
