The fjord adventure would be incomplete without a guided trip to Kjerag bolt. The five cubic meter glacial deposit is mysteriously suspended between two rocks, with the location being a world of its own. It inspires to humbleness and gratitude for having been allowed the privilege to experience nature in its utmost purity, from the top of the world. Standing on the boulder itself is not for the faint of heart and visitors to Kjerag should be reminded that what this place has to offer is more than just an impressive boulder. Chances are you will be in awe of nature’s unmistakable beauty the entire trip, culminating with the breathtaking vistas over the Lysefjord. BASE jumpers challenge their limits on a regular basis from this majestic location and visitors may get the chance to see the “flying” daredevils in action.

We had a great guide - Tua - who made the experience fun. He has done this trip many, many times so he was able to give us good tips on where to go and some extra view points. He was also always happy to take pictures if you asked him. The hike was harder than I thought it would be but we had a great group and talking with people from around the world made the hike easier. I would recommend this trip and having a guide to anyone interested in going. I wouldn't recommend doing it without a guide unless you have done it before.

this is a very challenging hike. You need to have experience with climbing, steep grades and rock faces. Especially in wet conditions as that is the weather most of the time. You need a moderate amount of physical conditioning to make this climb. I found this climb challenging as it was wet, rainy, windy and cold. We were not able you get a good view as it was also cloudy. But it was a good hike and we had a great guide named Toa. He was able to find us the easiest way up and down.

My trip to Kjerag exceeded all my expectations! This hike is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. We were fortunate to have clear blue skies, which made the trek easier, though there were still some noticeable steep segments. If you anticipate wet conditions, I highly recommend bringing gloves to protect your hands when using the chains to help climb up (though we didn’t need them since the trail was dry). Our guide, Sean, was fantastic! He was friendly, provided us with plenty of information, and he is really passionate about hiking. I highly recommend this tour!
