Jerash Ruins
Jerash is a well preserved city of the Roman Empire, often called Pompeii of the East. Initially built by Alexander the Great, the town started to prosper after the Roman conquest and was one of the Decapolis cities in northern Jordan. The guide shows you around and explains the history. Visit Hadrian's Arch, built in 130 AD to honor the visit of Emperor Hadrian. Pass the Hippodrome offering space for 15,000 spectators, the impressing Forum, continue to the Temple of Artemis, the Colonnaded Street and the Nymphaeum.

Great way to explore Amman if you have a short layover

5.00I had a 8 hour layover in Amman and wanted to tour the city before continuing my trip. My guide Oqba was great. He spoke perfect English, taught me about the history of Amman and Islam. He was very calm and took me to King Abdullah Mosque, the citadel, the old city (theater, market) and dinner in a fantastic restaurant. He had me try sweets and traditional food. Also the agent Christine was awesome. Not expensive at all. I really enjoyed the tour and I highly recommend it.
