  • Bus Ride to Ancient Olympia and History of Olympia

We had a very nice excursion to Ancient Olympia. Our guide was Chrysi, and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. She demonstrated a lot of patience dealing with a large Spanish speaking group that didn't understand English and ended up taking up a lot of her time trying to explain how to use the VR guide at the Ancient Olympic ruins. I'm not sure if they signed up on Viator, but I was specifically asked what language I wanted for the tour. The Spanish group shouldn't have been with us, but shouldn't be a reflection on Chrysi.

The tour was not worth the high cost of $131 for 2 people. It was a 35 min bus ride on a bus with inadequate AC ( vent controls were broken in the closed position). Tour operator did not respond to my email letting her know our ship maybe late due to mechanical issues. She spoke for a brief moment in route to Olympia and did not return with the bus. The bus had a high step and the driver did not assist the elderly ladies/people with knee issues when exiting the bus. Needless to say neither of them received a tip.

  • Good tour, but…..

Olympia is well worth a visit and the trip is worthwhile. Chrissi (I’m sure that was her name) was exceptional. Very professional and knowledgable and keen to ensure people felt comfortable with all aspects of the tour. My only issue is with the clarity regarding certain aspects of the tour. For example, the VR tour requires headphones but I didn’t see any reference to that within the details of the trip. The VR part of the tour is good and gives you key information which brings Olympia to life. However, it’s not set out very clearly but Chrissi did her best to explain how it worked. All in all, I would recommend the tour as an alternative to the P&O option and use the extra money saved for a trip to a speciality restaurant on board!!

  • Avoid at all costs!

This is not a VR experience- save yourself your time and money by booking with an honest provider. Unfortunately we thought this tour would be with VR headsets as we saw others using on site but nope- it’s a video link to a video. A video which didn’t even work! I reached out to the provider multiple times via the Viator app and received no response to the video or “VR” as the call it, not working. It was a complete waste of our day. To top it off we paid nearly $200 CAD whereas others in the group just paid 7 euros for the ride. There’s no way a video link is worth nearly $90 each. Complete scam! The bus operator also confirmed they receive this feedback about being mislead and the links not working but Viator clearly doesn’t see a problem with keeping this vendor. Viator was no help in remediating this issue either.

  • We were well looked after...

We were well looked after by our tour guide but it is a visit to go around on your own with an app l Pity points of interest were not numbered it would make it easier
