Having lived in Chicago for over 12 years and conducted tours at the DUSABLE Museum of African-American History has given me an insight different from other tour guides and allows me to share my unique experience with people interested in Slave Trade History. This Pilgrimage destination has become one of the largest Slave Depot on the African continent. With the right guidance, you will get a clear picture of the last weeks of the Slaves before being shipped across the ocean to American destinations. The island is revered as more of a pilgrimage site.
When you visit the infamous House of Slave, you will get an idea of the sad history of this lovely place but you will also learn the story of millions of Africans whose lives were traumatized, disrupted, and the atrocities that our Forefathers went through for over three centuries

5.00Oumar took us to Ghoree Island with my Senoir Guests. My group was 8 in number My Grandfather said we were from the Mandinka Tribe and my African Ancestry revealed this truth. I felt like I was Sprituslly connected at the Slave Castle at Ghoree Island. Oumar has a Gift he connects with people from different backgrounds different cultures. He was patient , knowledgeable. Answers Questions , A Historian about his Culture and Senegal. I have been to Akebulan many times but this By Far the Best Journey to the Motherland. I Believe Oumar made it the BEST . I AM GRATEFUL DR BELL

5.00Really excellent tour on all fronts from start to finish! Oumar was absolutely professional at all times with great punctuality and excellent English. He tailored our trip to avoid the longest queues for the ferry and was an exceptional source of information through out the day. He made such a difficult history and story engaging and was able to answer every question we had about not just Goree but Dakar and Senegal in general. An incredibly knowagable man who also appears to know half of Dakar!, with people greeting him warmly every where we went. Even on the trip back to the hotel he pointed out lots of areas of interest. If you get the opportunity to engage Oumars services don't miss it!

5.00This tour was beyond incredible. Oumar was a phenomenal guide who went above and beyond during the tour -- and after. Not only did he show me around Goree Island and share his encyclopedic knowledge on a variety of topics, but he also gave me a quick tour of Dakar with an equally impressive knowledge of current events in West Africa right after. I can't recommend this tour enough -- especially with Oumar.

4.00Oumar is a great guide. He was on time for the pickup, explained the process of how to get to the island and gave interesting snippets of information on the ferry ride. On the island we spent over 3 hours and he took us on a detailed tour of the last surviving slave house and other historical elements of Goree Island. Oumar is also an excellent photographer and a natural with identifying suitable photo locations and taking great shots
