Kampong Phluk Floating Village
Travel 34 km away from Siem Reap town, you can explore the remarkable stilted village of Kampong Phluk on the Tonle Sap Lake, where the houses are built five meters above dry ground to account for the rise and fall of the lake’s waters. This unique architecture has been nicknamed “bamboo skyscrapers”. This other-worldly village looks like a film set during the wet season months from July to November and can be explored by paddle boats. Viewing sunset reflecting from the surface of the lake is one of the most memorable experiences that you should not miss. There are several local homestays in the village and some floating souvenir shops and restaurants.
Visit Rolous Market one of the most traditional local markets in the Siem Reap area, Rolous Market is the hub for this small town in Prasat Bakong District. It is at its most colourful in the morning when lots of locals come here to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Venture to the back of the market beyond the river where the streets are lined with fresh produce. It is a good experience for photographers as long as you remember to ask permission to take pictures of individual sellers.

The tour was very nice. The car arrived on time and the driver was very careful and was driving safely. Our guide, Tann was very nice and professional. He was happy to share his knowledge and explain a lot of things about the tour, which made it very valuable. He speaks good English and was easy to understand. He is also a very good photographer and will make sure you have nice memories. The people from the village are always smiling and the boat drivers clearly know what there are doing. The view on the lake at sunset is breathtaking. 100% would recommend.

Saw a very different part of Siem Reap. In the stilt houses along the estuary you see the daily struggles of people. Just looking at the houses and people (including many kids) around the houses gives you insights into the culture, society and the state of the economy. The tour goes up to a restaurant in the open lake, with some nice views. They also had a few crocodiles in a cage - might be of interest to families with kids. The guide Tann Sopheap is fantastic. He goes beyond his job to customise the tours. He was our guide for two full days and we enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend Angkor Buddy Tour !
