What To Expect
The Karnak Temple
Karnak Temple on the East Bank of Luxor is the largest temple complex in Egypt to which no less than 30 pharaohs contributed. The complex is possibly the largest religious structure in the world. Karnak is distinguished from other temples in that it was built for so long by successive pharaohs. Construction began in the Middle Kingdom under Senusret I, about 1900 BC, although the largest buildings date from the New Kingdom. 30 Pharaohs participated in the entire project. Especially the size and number of buildings of Karnak is overwhelming. The guide will show you the most interesting and important places.

5.00We had a fantastic half-day tour visiting Karnak and Luxor Temples. We started at 3:00 PM so it was hot, but worth it for the sunset at Luxor temple. Our guide, Ibrahim, was punctual and incredibly knowledgeable. He provided a wealth of interesting context for each temple, sharing "just enough" detail to make the history come alive without being overwhelming. One thing we really valued was that after his briefing, he gave us plenty of free time to explore and take photos at our own pace. Our driver was also a total pro—he navigated the Egyptian traffic with ease, ensuring we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. A great experience from start to finish! What really set Tag-Tour apart was their communication. Out of several tours I booked through Viator, Mostafa from Tag-Tour was the only one who reached out within 24 hours of booking to introduce himself and check if we had any special requirements. Because of that professional touch, we ended up booking two additional tours in Luxor and Cairo with Tag-Tour—all of which were excellent. The East Bank sights are obviously a must-see, but the seamless service made the day. Highly recommended!

5.00We also booked a private East Bank tour in Luxor through Viator with TAG Tours, visiting Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple. We went in the late morning, and while it was busy, our guide Owfi managed the crowds extremely well. He was very thoughtful about keeping us in the shade during explanations, which made a big difference in the heat. The pacing felt just right — not rushed, but also efficient. Owfi’s storytelling was engaging and accessible for both adults and kids, and he added thoughtful cultural context that helped us better understand not just ancient Egypt, but contemporary life as well. Our driver, Sayko, continued to provide excellent service — safe, punctual, and professional. As with our other tours, communication from TAG Tours via Viator was clear and reliable. We were travelling as two families (4 adults and 3 kids), and this guide/driver combination made the experience exceptional. Highly recommend — 5/5.

5.00We visited Karnak and Luxor temples. Sayed was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and pleasant. He showed us all that was necessary and then also gave us time to take photos. Our driver was very careful and the car was very clean. We highly recommend them.

5.00We had a wonderful tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about both sights. He was able to answer any questions we had and gave us as much time as we wanted to look around the temples. Both temples are worth seeing. We opted for the 7am start which meant we were at the temples before most of the other tours. This was wonderful as we were not competing with other tours to see different aspects of the temples or hear our guides explanations. It also meant we could stand in the temples and it felt like we were on our own as we were so spaced out (we visited on a Thursday morning). The tour was 4 hrs long and we felt this was about right for 2 people who love history and museums. If you are very keen on Egyptian history, you might require more time in Karnak as there is a lot to see. (I'm sure we could have asked for more time, but it was about right for us) The booking process and the TagTour were wonderful, corresponding with us on WhatsApp and answering any questions we had regarding logistics. We also booked a second tour with them 'Half day Luxor Tour Valley of Kings & Queens, Hatshepsut Temple' which was as wonderful and an airport transfer, which went very smoothly. I would 100% recommend this company.

5.00Arranged this tour last minute (on the day) and Tag Tours was very quick to accommodate us. A wonderful half day visit to Luxor and Karnak Temples, our guide Owfi was very enthusiastic and passionate. He gave us detailed history and stories about all the temples, as well as their purposes. Highly recommend and we thoroughly enjoyed this tour as part of our honeymoon. Everything was very smooth. Thank you for accommodating us!

5.00Obviously we really enjoyed the tour from TAGTOUR because this is the second time we booked their tour guide service. We met Mostafa (our driver) and Ibrahim (our tour guide) yesterday for the visit to the West Bank and we really enjoyed the tour with them and thus we booked their tour guide service again today for the visit to the East Bank of Luxor. Mostafa gave us bottle water and snacks today again and his driving is always smooth. Ibrahim obviously has extensive knowledge about ancient Egypt history and his explanation of the inscriptions and pictures on the wall is vivid and fascinating. I also learned different meanings of each posture of statue and why they look different than the ones in the temples on the West Bank today. Egypt has a rich ancient history and Ibrahim explains the history very well to us. I highly recommend TAGTOUR to everyone who wants to learn Egypt history here 😌

5.00We booked several tours with Mustafa (Tag Tour) during our time in Luxor because our first experience with him was so great. The Luxor & Karnak Temple tour was a highlight—Mustafa personally drove us and arranged an excellent local guide who made the history of the temples come alive. Everything was seamless and well organized, and it’s clear that Mustafa truly cares about providing his guests with the best possible experience. He’s professional, flexible, and passionate about what he does. You’ll learn so much more with a guide than if you just walk around on your own. After such a great day exploring the Luxor and Karnak temples, we booked an evening felucca ride with dinner through Tag Tour. Highly recommend Tag Tour for anyone visiting Luxor!
