We will hike to the highest point of Mexico City, the Pico del Águila, which is located in the Sierra del Ajusco and together with the Cruz del Márquez it ascends to 3,930 meters above sea level. Its top is considered high mountain and has a considerable slope, reaching an incline of 40 degrees at times. Based on our physical condition, we will ascend to the top for between two and up to four hours winding mountain paths, crossing fir forest, fir trees and coniferous forest. This is an ideal experience to observe Mexico City, meet nature, take spectacular photos and observe the closest volcanoes such as Xitle, Iztaccíahuatl and Popocatepetl.

We had a wonderful time on the trip to Ajusco! The guide Daniel is a very nice guy. We had a great time together, and all was well organized and safe. Thank you! The scenery is wonderful, you can see cdmx down below, and the other volcanos in the distance. If you are used to hiking then it is not too difficult, as long as you respect the mountain and avoid bad weather.

My first ay in Mexico City showed me nature and volcanos around the city. Together with Daniel we hiked in the very early morning to the both summits of Ajusco. The round tour includes a lot of different landscapes. Forest, alpine meadows and a little bit of rock climing. After 4 hours (with breaks) we returned to the parking place. Daniel is a ver professional guide and I learned a lot about Mexico and the nature. For me the perfekt start in Mexico.

I was fortunate that Daniel was my guide on the climb to La Cruz del Marqués Peak in Mexico, and it was an unforgettable experience. He picked me up on time at the hotel and from the first moment the conversation flowed; we found many things in common and I found him an amazing person. Not only did I know perfectly well the route and flora of the place, but also guided me on height and regulation. In addition, he took photos and videos so that I could keep memories of the journey, and even brought food to offer me, which I thought was a very special gesture. We even tried to get to Eagle Peak, and he knew how to guide us on the best way back to make it shorter and safer. Everything went according to plan and the experience was spectacular. I would definitely repeat the journey with him and Viator Expeditions. In fact, we already plan to return in February to conquer the Malinche. Thank you, Daniel!”

This hike was incredible! This was definitely a hard hike for our group but it was extremely rewarding to finish. Our guide Fernando made the entire experience worthwhile. Fernando took such good care of us from the beginning to end. Fernando educated us on breathing, different trees, altitude, and much more. The views are breathtaking and it’s truly an experience that will never be forgotten!

The track up was steep and more challenging than I expected but it was a great experience. I liked the lush forest on the way up. My guide, Uriel was great and shared some fantastic photos with me.

The hike is not for the faint of heart (literally!). The altitude was what made this particularly difficult. It was well worth it though. Our guide, Fernando was incredibly patient with us and is very personable as well.

Omar was absolutely phenomenal! First of all, he's just a great person to chat with - gave us plenty of recommendations for our trip and was insightful about the area. Second (and most importantly), the hike proved to be a bit too rigorous for us at the time, so Omar swiftly adapted and took us to another hiking area where we had a wonderful time. CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS!!

Very experienced and knowledgeable guide. Kept us going at a good clip. It was a long drive to and from central Mexico City, but the views from the top were absolutely worth it. It is worth noting that there’s not much of a trail system, and much of a hike was simply straight up the mountain side.

Tour guide Omar was incredibly attentive to our family. He picked us up from our hotel early so we could make the most of a splendid day. He supplied us with hiking safety equipment and gave us tips on climbing efficiently. He also was very pleasant and outgoing. The hike was invigorating and required paying attention especially on the decent, so it was a bit challenging for me (55 year old active woman). We saw other climbers some of whom were very skilled, but none could keep up with their athletic pet dogs who were universally cute and well behaved. Having a very nice attentive guide such as Omar made the experience for us. We would definitely not have gone hiking on our own in the wilderness. We felt very safe and relaxed. I highly recommend the hike that is just a short drive from Mexico City. Thank you, Omar☺️.
