Hamarøyskaftet is one of the most characteristic mountains in Northern Norway. It’s less well known than Stetind and the summit is just 613 metres above sea level. Some alpine climbing is needed to reach the summit. Join us on a guided climb, and be surprised by how much fun this trip is!
Hamarøyskaftet is not a very difficult climb, but you will still need ropes and guiding to reach the top. You must be comfortable with some airy climbing. Between the alpine sections, you will find large ledges to rest on while you enjoy the amazing views. When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with views of the Vestfjord and Lofotveggen (The Lofoten Wall) – the line of mountains on the nearby Lofoten Islands.
No rush. We allow plenty of time on this excursion, so we don’t have to rush.

Most people manage this rewarding climb just fine.

In brilliant weather and a super motivated guide got us to the top of the Hamar Island Shift. The trip was not very airy, although it offered some challenges. Our guide gave us several options on the way up so we could choose a simple or more challenging track. A little scratched up here and there, but it only did well on the photos. Top trip recommended.

Climbing on the Hamarøyyskaftet was for me a "trust trip" since the planned and booked trip to Stetind was cancelled due to too much snow in the entrance. However, the staff at the office and guide Fredrik were both positive and helpful. I got answers to questions and the information I needed.

The first experience with outdoor climbing was a very positive experience. With confident guidance and guidance from Ivar, short entrance and fun climbing we reached the top and got a great reward with views in top weather. Airy and safe rapelling down the mountain was a fun experience. The trip can safely be recommended!

We had a great trip with Ivar to Hamar Island. The children aged 11 and 12 were given a lifelong experience, and an adult with height-respect was allowed to move boundaries in spectacular environments with a professional and confident guide.

Thank you for a great climb to Hamar Island, the mountain that looks unbeatable. Lovely airy climbing and views from the top in all directions of the sky. Rappelling down from the top was fun. Confident and determined guidance of guide Ivar made the trip an experience.

For those who like a little great landscape, a great experience with climbing and rappelling. We had 20 degrees of sun and a driven and amazing. Many small details that a first-time climber at 70 takes good advantage of. This is a good example that age is no obstacle. The top offers fantastic views in all directions even the Lofoten with Skrova, Stetind and many other mountain landscapes

Thanks for a fantastic great climbing trip to Hamarøy shaft. Without climbing experience and with height scare we were very excited! We were safely guided up and down by Jonas and all height terror disappeared with this incredibly good tour leader. See you next year! Mvh Ellen and Steinar

We did a hike of Haraøyskaftet with Jørgen and even though the weather wasn’t ideal we had a great time. The trip was easy to setup and they communicated with us quickly and well. With the wet conditions and this climb being our first outdoor climb with a rappel Jørgen made it fun and feel safe. The Haraøyskaftet trip was easily approachable for us as first timers to an outdoor climb and if your hesitant I would say go for it. It’ll be a trip you’ll remember.
