The most populous known manta feeding point in the world, but we know 30% of the sea so there will probably be many others, I read the only review in English which is true in many ways, I went with a WWF group to study the manta rays , Maahlos fishing island base, in 8 days 4 expeditions to Hanifaru, the period is from June to September, we went with the full moon in August, the best conditions and with manta weather, torrential rains and rough seas. Our manta tribe diving guide is in contact with the ranger, he knows exactly how many manta rays there are. Of course, perhaps taking a tour from a 5 star resort with improvised guides can lead to nasty surprises, max number allowed in the water is 85pex, we found the crowd once with 200 manta rays, expecting to be alone is going too far. First time in the afternoon, just 12 of us with 14 manta rays, a memorable swim. They are very sweet animals, they swim everywhere, they pass under you, touching your belly, they also hit you with their wings, you don't have to move, they float bareback, if you just bend a leg you risk catching it, what can I tell you? I was crying in my mask with emotion, a dream experience, I consider myself privileged to have swum 4 times with these wonderful and elegant beasts that do impressive twirls and trains. We didn't see the whale sharks inside the lagoon, but just outside we did, a trip that I will remember forever. For sea lovers and even expert snorkelers, good water skills are required given the sea conditions. True, I saw groups of orientals with life jackets standing straight in the water and finning the poor manta rays, but the ranger intervenes. Fines for those who touch them with their hands. it costs €60 each time, you can stay for a maximum of 45 minutes which passes very quickly. I realize this is a journey that is not within everyone's reach, I consider myself extremely lucky, good luck to everyone

Our worst experience in Maldives! They sell an exclusive experience and a unique trip of snorkeling with Mantas with a local guide in a preserved area…In fact, a tourist trap!!!! 12 boats full of people when we arrived, 80 or more people in the water paddelling with noise, a lot of chinese with life jackets and floaties,a rude guide with no consideration to us and the environnement. Absolutely no Mantas!!!! Normal, they run away this place with so many people…As we must have done! Do not condone this attraction which is more Disneyland than an aquatic reserve! Shame on the local rangers who confuse business and preservation.
