Join us for an unforgettable day tour exploring the pristine beauty of Tasmania's deep South, where the apples are crisp, the salmon is fresh, and the trees have been around since before your great-great-grandparents were born!
Our first stop is Huonville, where you'll have a chance to grab a takeaway coffee and stock up on any essentials for the day. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic drive along the beautiful Huon River. As you sip your coffee, you'll hear tales about why this area is famous for its apple orchards, craft cider makers, boutique winemakers, and salmon production.
Next, we arrive at the Tahune Airwalk, where you'll have two glorious hours to explore this spectacular region. Choose one or all three of the walks on offer. Start with the famous Airwalk, a 600-meter stroll 50 meters up in the tree canopy amongst the world's tallest flowering plants, the eucalyptus gum trees. Feeling adventurous? Take on the Swinging Bridges Track, a 3.4-kilometer jaunt where you'll cross two swinging bridges over the Huon River the first (100m long) and the Picton Swinging Bridge (64m long). Alternatively, you can stay on the ground and enjoy the tranquillity of strolling along the riverbank through ancient Huon pines, mingling with trees that are 2,500 years old. Talk about a walk-through of ancient times!
After lunch, it's time to venture further south to the magical Hastings Caves, where you'll marvel at the underground wonders of Australia's largest dolomite cave. Your entrance ticket (included) grants you a guided tour through this fascinating cave system, led by an experienced and passionate guide. Here you can admire the intricate formations and learn about the area's geological history. While exploring the Hastings Caves State Reserve, keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife like platypus, quolls, pademelons and birds.
On our way back to Hobart, we'll stop at one of the local cider producers where you can enjoy a tasting paddle with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options or indulge in a complimentary mouth-watering apple pie if your stomach desires. It's the perfect way to wrap up a day of exploring. There's truly nothing better than sitting back, relaxing in a historic venue, enjoying a drink, and sharing stories with your fellow adventurers.

We had an amazing experience, made even better by our fantastic tour guide. (Bryony) We were collected from our designated pickup point right on time and taken on a full day of adventure. Throughout the tour, we were given great local insights, tips, and interesting stories that really added to the experience. The Airwalk was incredible, and the caves were absolutely stunning. Thank you again — we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Hobart region.

We had an amazing day tour with Bryony as our guide and driver. She made the whole experience feel like a relaxed family trip — warm, fun, and so easygoing. Her knowledge of the area, history and all the hidden stories added so much richness to the day, and her driving was incredibly safe and steady, which made us feel completely comfortable throughout the trip. Bryony struck the perfect balance between giving us information, letting us explore, and making sure we never felt rushed. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests having the best experience. Thank you, Bryony, for such a memorable day. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Highly recommend her to anyone considering the tour.

The highlight of the tour was Tahune Airwalk, lovely pristine forests and amazing walks and river. Hastings caves was the usual cave formations, quite dark and lots of steps. Too many on the tour to hear the guide. Didn’t get to do the rainforest walk The tour guide Rob was not very informative and for most of the tour he didn’t communicate with the group. If I had to guess I would think he was not used to doing this tour. He told me I had to buy a ticket at the Airwalk when it was already covered in the tour price. The stop at Franks was a waste of time as most of the bus didn’t drink alcohol and the guide wasn’t sure if we had to pay for the apple pie. I probably wouldn’t recommend this tour as there was a lot of driving in silence. I would have appreciated learning more about Tassie.

This tour was great- easy pick up & drop off, comfortable small bus so not a huge group, lots of opportunities to grab meals & drinks. Even though it was a rainy day the Tahune Skywalk and swinging bridges were great fun and felt like an easy way to experience some wilderness- the forest & rivers were spectacular, as was the Hastings Cave. The cave tour was informative, and just the perfect amount of time underground to see all of the dramatic chambers and beautiful formations. Warm apple pie and Cider on the way home were a treat after a day in the rain. Would highly recommend no matter the weather!

Tassie Tours is a good ethical business. On my day trip, the Tahune air walk was cancelled. The company refunded a portion of our payment for the airwalk, without any prompting from us. I have been cheated by other tour companies before, so I really appreciate this. Our tour guide (?Juno/Johno/Juneau) was so friendly and kind. I had lost my jacket and it was cold, so he offered me his jackets throughout the day. It's a shame I hesitated asking him to clarify his name 😅. The rest of the tour, Hasting caves- spectacular and apple pie- great touch to the trip. Highly recommend Tassie tours in general and this particular tour.
