Kayak around icebergs at a beautiful, secluded glacier lake and hike a seldom visited mountain, in the shadow of Europe’s largest glacier. This tour combines kayaking and hiking in an off-the-beaten-path adventure. We use packrafts (lightweight inflatable kayaks) which gives us ultimate flexibility in designing amazing expeditions on land and water, without the constraints of heavy, plastic kayaks. Paddle around ancient icebergs and hike across untouched land in this carefully crafted showcase of the best Vatnajökull National Park has to offer. The tour begins at Hotel Smyrlabjörg, approximately halfway between Jökulsárlón and Höfn. From here, a 20 minute 4x4 journey takes us towards the glacier and the start of our adventure! We'll begin with an introduction to the equipment, kayaking techniques and safety considerations before launching the boats and exploring the iceberg-filled lake for 1.5 - 2 hours. We'll then land the boats and hike through a remote landscape to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the glacier. After hiking, we'll once more don our drysuits and continue paddling a short way, before hiking back to the car.

It couldn't go any better, we had a beautiful kayak tour over the glacier lake and a nice hike on the mountain ridge. Would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to combine a nice and easy tour with a little more challenging hike.
