Olympic Stadium (Olympiastadion)
The Helsinki Olympic Stadium, opened in 1938 and designed by Yrjö Lindegren and Toivo Jäntti, is Finland’s largest stadium and a landmark of functionalist architecture. It famously hosted the 1952 Summer Olympics and remains a major venue for sports and events after its latest renovation in 2020.

5.00Sergio was our guide, with Pekka our driver. Between them, they gave a very enjoyable and informative tour by small bus around Helsinki. Pekka was a native Fin, whilst Sergio has been in Helsinki for 18 years. Both had great knowledge and imparted this well. We then parted ways with Pekka and went across by ferry to Soumallina with Sergio. We are so glad we didn't try to see this on our own. Sergio explained the history behind the island and pointed out great places of interest. If we had more time, we would have gone back another day and explored more

5.00A packed day of Helsinki highlights. Sergio and our driver for the first half, Bekke, took us around and showed us the sights from the new library to the Olympic stadium, Sibelius monument and Senate square. Their double act was informative and hilarious with different perspectives and banter. We had time at the market square for lunch before taking the ferry to the sea fortress island (in reality a huge community!) with great info from Sergio at every step. On returning to the mainland he gave us a little souvenir of our time together. Highly recommend.

5.00Turned out to be just 2 families so almost a private tour in a minivan. The minivan taxi driver, Peca was too enthusiastic to share information, almost ready to steal the thunder from our guide , Sergio. The soumenlinna castle visit was also done nicely.
