Excellent tour, highly recommended we thoroughly enjoyed the K ossos Palace, the olive mill; the Pottery studio, and the monas. George is an outstanding guide, full of history; local traditions, etc; we can't rave enough about him. Be sure and hire a licensed guide in the Palace

Notes for your trip – 7 January 2026 | Heraklion & Beyond We started the day with a warm welcome from George outside of Castro Hotel. On our way to the legendary palace of Knossos, we shared a glimpse into the history of Crete and Minorish civilization before visiting. At Cnosos, we explored the palace at ease and discovered its beautiful architecture, murals, and legends associated with it. Then we passed through the beautiful and well-restored village of Arrebanias, before visiting the Politaques olive grove, where you got to know the “liquid gold” of Crete. We tasted distinct types of excellent bean olive oil: The ordinary, organic, and early harvest, made exclusively from green olives is harvested in October. We continued our journey to the village of Trepasano, where I made his own handmade mud pottery in a local pottery workshop, and get to know the famous Vittagorus, also known as the Cup of Justice. Our next stop was the monastery of Agkarathos, a peaceful and historic place with simplicity, spirit, and tradition. We then headed across other traditional villages as the sea view began to gradually appear in the background. When we returned to the city, he guided us to Halal, where we savored local cuisine together and ended the day with a cozy vibe. It was a balanced and meaningful visit to Crete—a mix of history, culture, flavors, hidden gems—with a local who truly loves the island. ___ Thank you from heart to the kind and courteous George Ali from Iraq ❯❯

I knew right away that our tour guide George was a consummate professional when he reached out to me soon after I had booked the tour to let me know that he had looked up my cruise info and that I had mistakenly booked my tour for the wrong day! George graciously fixed my mistake for me and then proceeded to ask what sort of things we were interested in so he could recommend a custom tailored itinerary. Our tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. George's wealth of knowledge about the island extended to history, culture, politics - you name it. George was also very sensitive to the mobility issues of one member of our party for which we were very grateful. I highly recommend George as a fantastic guide for your next your of Crete.

Had a wonderful day with our guide George. He met us at the cruise port and was very accommodating to our mobility limitations. Visited a monastery, scenic Herculon, a pottery demonstration, historic Knossos and a wonderful visit with George’s family. We would highly recommend our guide for visiting Crete.

Our tour guide, Georgios Dermitzakis, was simply outstanding. Georgios welcomed us warmly and drove us expertly on our half day (6 hour) tour of the Knossos Palace ruins & Top Sights. He has extensive local knowledge and took us to visit a friends Politakis olive oil mill & processing facility - which was really fascinating. We then visited The very charming Lyrarakis Winery and had a personalized tour & tasting accompanied with fresh organically grown cheeses and olives. Excellent!!! We finished the tour with a nice stroll around the old port market area and its historic alleys. We were gifted a small bottle of liquid gold EVOO and parted with our new friend George and memories of a lifetime...

Excellent way to experience the sights & culture of the lovely Greek Island of Crete! The tour was conducted by our excellent guide George who ensured we had a great experience throughout our day ... We were picked up on time at the Ship in a comfortable air conditioned vehicle and taken to the Knossos Palace for a fascinating experience exploring the ancient ruins and careful reconstructions.... Despite the relatively long lines, George was able to expedite our entry as a 'small tour group'. After that we headed to Skalani for an excellent tour of a working Olive planation with a great tasting experience at the end, which easily served as lunch for the day! Following on we visited a local winery with outstanding views of the countryside and a very enjoyable and reasonably priced tasting experience, where we sampled 6 local wines not commonly available due to relatively small production of the vineyard. From there we headed back to Heraklion where George gave us a very informative walking tour of some of the best harbour & city centre sites, followed by a complementary local delicacy at a traditional Crete bakery. Crete is a beautiful Island steeped in history and Greek Culture and this tour is a great way to sample some of the highlights. George was a perfect guide providing interesting and often amusing commentary as we travelled together ... Highly recommend!

Dimitri was a superb tour guide. He has broad knowledge of the fascinating history of Crete. He was always close by when we finished one of out tours and the visit to the small family run olive oil business was informative and accompanied by a delightful collection of breads and other vegetables to try their olive oil. The Archaeological Museum is an extraordinary collection of artifacts going back to 6000BC and very clearly displayed.

We had a great morning on the guided tour made by our guide Gorges. We started the tour through the palace of Knossos on the way from our hotel to the palace, George made us the history of the Minoan civilization. The visit was facilitated by an app to download at the entrance to Knossos. Then towards the Cretan countryside, we saw vineyards, olive fields and beautiful landscapes ... finally we discovered a pottery workshop (where I could practice my art 🫢, or not ...) . Then we went to discover a monastery, ... Finally Gorges took the time to introduce us to the center of Heraklion and give explanations about the different buildings! Gorges was a very interesting, friendly and considerate guide (bottle of water in the mini van , picking tomato , etc ...) We recommend and will start again as soon as possible. Severine
