Okotoks Erratic - The Big Rock

Stop 1: Okotoks Erratic – A Prehistoric Introduction Start your day with a visit to the Okotoks Erratic, one of Canada’s most impressive glacial features. This massive boulder, weighing an estimated 16,000 tons, was transported by glaciers during the last Ice Age over 10,000 years ago. As you approach the erratic, you’ll be struck by its sheer size and the incredible history that it represents—this rock traveled more than 100 kilometers from its origin in the Rocky Mountains. Standing next to this geological marvel, you’ll feel a deep connection to the land’s ancient past. There’s a small interpretive center nearby where you can learn more about the erratic's significance and the area's glacial history before heading on your way.

Stop 2: Scenic Drive Down the Cowboy Trail After getting your fill of ancient history, hop in the car and head down the Cowboy Trail, a scenic drive that winds through the breathtaking foothills of the Rockies. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of an old Western as towering peaks rise against the sky, while wide-open grasslands stretch out around you. This route is famous for its dramatic landscapes and opportunities for wildlife sightings—keep your eyes peeled for bison, elk, and the occasional pronghorn antelope roaming across the fields. The trail also offers plenty of picturesque pullouts where you can stop, stretch your legs, and soak in the views. Went to two different locations and stopped for lunch. Overall both hikes were great. Great views and waterfalls. Sue is very friendly and is knowledgeable about the area.

Sue and Greg were the sweetest tour guides! We had an awesome time touring with them. We're a family of 4 traveled with 2 young kids (7 and 2) and Sue and Greg were like their aunt and uncle! They're AMAZING with kids! My 7 year old said the best part of our trip was meeting "Ms. Sue". We hope to go on another adventure with them in the future! Thank you Sue and Greg!!

Great tour-Moraine Lake was magnificent to see. The teal colored water is unbelieveable. Lake Louise is gorgeous great hikes around lake Greg and Sue were wonderful tour guides, I was picked and dropped off at hotel door, we were provided with lots of information, ideas and tips to just make the day perfect!

This tour was spectacular the views were amazing so refreshing to see. I was so relaxed the whole time and really let go of my stress, Greg and Sue really knew what they were doing and had so much knowledge about the area they were showing. I recommend taking the time to go and I would absolutely do it again.

The views were breathtaking and unlike anything else we’ve seen all over the world Sue and Greg were delightful, relaxed, and made us feel like we were in safe hands. They got us to the right places, showed us the best sights and were great company too. We got to sit back and enjoy, trusting that they had organised everything. In an extraordinary trip, visiting Moraine Lake and Lake Louise with Sue and Greg was a highlight. We hiked up the rocks at Moraine and walked around Lake Louise. We had just the right amount of time in each. Our teenaged boys rated it as the best thing we did in Banff.
