Brilliant evening spent with the excellent host Kim - covering every part of Hoi An giving us a crop to plate experience of the local food and history. We arrived at her house where she couldn't have been more welcoming. She greeted us with coffee to prepare us for the evening ahead and we had a lovely time getting to know everyone before the trip started. She is a proud woman from Hoi An and her knowledge, experience and willingness to share information about how the authentic local food processes work in Hoi An. We had great fun, visited local food suppliers and manufacturers, explored the rice Fields and markets and ate delicious home cooked Hoi An delicacies, in restaurants, on the side of the street and in local houses. Kim was top class, and made the tour for us. There was no question she didnt answer. Overall a brilliant day and a really good way to explore Hoi An and see a side you might never experience otherwise.

We had booked the “Old Hidden Gems” tour and were picked up early in the morning. Since our hotel was located just outside Hoi An, a transfer was specially arranged for us – which was very straightforward and pleasant. Already at the first meeting Thuỳ received us incredibly warmly, so we felt right at home. After a quick round of getting to know each other over a coffee, we also started. A special highlight was the production of the cao lau noodles – which was really very impressive and exciting to see! We also visited the bean sprouts and rice fields, which gave us great insights into local life. After the market launch, we were able to taste various delicacies – everything was super delicious. Thuỳ explained everything very understandably, took a lot of time and responded to all the questions. We really couldn't have imagined a better guide. We can highly recommend this tour.

We booked Hidden Gems after having such an amazing time on Angiee Adventure’s Rural Hoi A tour. It did not disappoint. It’s so worth getting up early for! Thuy shared such interesting information about the Vietnamese culture and history of the food. It was great to get out of the crowded, touristy Ancient Town and experience a more authentic way of life. Since Thuy is a local, she seemed to know everyone, all the back alleys and the ins and outs of life in Hoi An. In addition, she is a truly nice person. I feel like we made a friend! Thank you to Thuy and Angiee Adventures for a memorable morning!

Even after nearly two weeks in Vietnam without booking tours, I’m so glad I chose this Hidden Gems experience in Hoi An. It exceeded every expectation. We visited local artisans, including a bean sprout maker and a traditional noodle house, and it was incredible seeing generations continue their craft. The market stops were a highlight—authentic banh mi, an amazing ambarella drink, and a memorable sesame dessert. We also visited rice fields, had tea and coffee, and even learned about local spiritual traditions. What truly made this experience special was our guide, Thuy. She was warm, knowledgeable, and made the tour feel like a genuine conversation rather than a scripted experience. With such a small group, it felt personal and immersive. I’m genuinely grateful I found this tour and highly recommend it.
